I just set up a gamo swarm for my nephew, torqued all scope base screws with thread lock, set at 30” pounds on the base an 15- 20” pounds on ring tops, after leveling the crosshairs that is, no thread lock on scope ring top screws as normal with all others I mount. After a brief run of around 175 shots I settled then gun in to sight in. After 8-10 different brands I finally found the H&N field target trophy pellets to be what it liked the most. 1” to 1.5” at 25 yards with everything factory. That’s more than acceptable accuracy from a sub 250$ air gun. Gamo has really upped the bar for themselves on this one, plus the 10 shot mag was a no brainer. Good job there. Let’s see you guys step these vids up a touch for novice shooters

all i am seeing here on the comments are? i used this video as a guide. i have the gamo shadow whisper/ with the same scope as above, the rail was already on the riffle. so all i needed to do was mount the scope onto the rail. SIMPLE AS APPLE PIE. nothing blocking the barrel, nothing blocking the magazine,nothing blocking my view. my riffle basically fell into place. found where to focus in my target. i have set up a Folgers can with dirt in it at 100 feet. placed a penny on white paper.i put a + on paper and taped the penny on the + BAM at 100 feet have split a penny into 3. for me it is a simple riffle to use and a simple scope as well. and has a kick to it. no hassle at all. pure enjoyment. love the scope and riffle.

Even with tight clamp, it may be possible for the scope to creep. Mine went forward after many hundred shots - to the point that it made contact with the auto-load mechanism, and took it out of alignment. I couldn't get the pellets to seat in the barrel anymore. After enough observation, I realized I needed to use a light bending to re-tension the spring arms that pull the hood of the unit down and backward. So far, that seems to have corrected it.

No matter how you slice it gamo, your mounting system sucks! This should have a piccatini rail on the rifle so you can put quality scope rings onto a quality scope and not have it going anywhere. I have owned this rifle for 3 years and put a piece of duct tape on the rail so I could tell when it creeped. Wasted a lot of time pellets and aggravation before I realized the scope constantly moves. I have torque it down the specs the peg is in the hole the peg is tightened to it stops and it still eventually creeps back. I just now had it happen again today and I went to take the scope off and the bracket screws were tight and The bracket still creeped backwards. This company has enough years in the game and technology to come out with a solid mounting system!

With the scope mounted that far forward you can’t get the lens cap on or off without breaking the barrel. I’d have mounted it 1/4 to 3/8 inch farther back.

That's the first thing I've noticed for I've encountered the same problem with my own Maxxim. Also the scope is too close to the loader that if you break the barrel the back of the loader could hit the front of the scope. This demo did not show it was clear of that.

Thank you for the video. I did as shown yet can't get smaller than a 2" group at 10 yards / 30 ft shooting with sturdy rest aim. The scope rail is snug in the barrel grooves, the scope rings are snug and I aligned and snugged down the pin. But the rail could be moved back another 1/2 inch, but I haven't moved the rail. Will moving the scope rail back positively affect or adversely affect group size? I adjusted the parallax so that my targets look clear and well enough focused at 10 yards and 20 yards. Is there any more I can do to get my group size smaller? Thank you.

Have you tried cleaning the barrel? Also try lubing the spring. There's are oils/greases made for springs. Last but not least, try new pellets. The gun chooses the pellets it likes.
@southernexposure1235 ай бұрын
@@NotTelling-ik8zl Thanks for the suggestion. Yes I cleaned the barrel. It took 20 shots after that to get that better group size and ithe group size size held for maybe 50 shots. Then the barrel needed cleaning again. Same 20 shots to get the better group. I also followed Dr. Russ' tip about cleaning pellets in soapy hot water and drying over night. I cleaned only 50 pellets in case that made the group size worse. After drying I sprayed the pellets with silicone motorcycle chain lube. Before shooting each of those lubed pellets I used a dry blotter inside each skirt to soak out the lube to prevent dieseling. I bought a scope with clearer glass that has MIL dots. That didn't solve the poor groups. I bought a set of peep sights. Not the solution yet. I used several weights and brands of pellets. Most brands and weights give bad groups and some of them give much worse groups. lol I have a red dot sight ordered which should arrive in a few days. I spent maybe 1/3 as much for different kinds of pellets as I spent on the gun. I suspect I'll have to buy a PCP rifle to get the groups I need. Oh I've shot rifles for squirrels for decades, so I'm sure it's not me shaking too much. Oh I'm hitting better groups with a pellet pistol with open sights than I hit with the rifle with a scope at the same distances. Maybe I just got a lemon. Maybe all I got was a fish line weight to sink the hooks deeper. lol I'm much too patient, but that's starting to slip. Thanks again. Edited to include I used the blue Loctite, used a torque wrench at factory recommended specs, more than factory specs, tried different holds and different rests sitting at a sturdy shooting table. Oh well. . . . .
@NotTelling-ik8zl5 ай бұрын
We do have a clue!! When you clean, then run 20 shots through you get tight again. I'm guessing your bore might be a smidge off. It takes a little lead to seal it but when it rebuilds back up (20 shots) it'll run straight until it builds lopsided. Do the pellets fit snug or loose?
@southernexposure1235 ай бұрын
@@NotTelling-ik8zlThank you. I never thought to load pellets without using the 10 shot magazine. But I have noticed that if at the end of a day's shooting I stopped shooting when the group was at the smallest for that day, the next day the group size immediately increased noticeably. I didn't clean the barrel at the end of the day when the group was the smallest. My cleaning method (if it matters) was to use dry patches (maybe 10 of those) and brass rod. Then after noticing the 20 shot phenomenon I would do the same cleaning, but with fewer patches. In other words I was trying to see if maybe I was using too many cleaning patches. I can't remember the details, but that experiment didn't give satisfaction. Here's an issue. A few weeks ago I put the rifle back in the box and left it alone for some days. I don't reme ber how many days, but at the time my thinking was to just abandon the rifle and move on. Then i had the idea to revert to using open sights. Eventually I found a peep sight I could put on the rifle using a dovetail to Weaver / Picatinny. The sight radiou is only about 4 inches, but it worked better than I thought it would, but in the end still no satisfaction. And I put the rifle back in the box again. I likely gave more information than you asked for. Anyway, I can remove the magazine and feed the bore by hand if that helps. I just get the rifle out of the box a few minutes ago. Oh another thing I've noticed. Sometimes the pellets get crooked during a session and once in a while a pellet will be ejected out of the magazine altogether. Question: Should I take off the magazine and hand feed OR lift the magazine with the barrel broke open enough times to look at the pellets? I appreciate your time and sharing your expertise with this issue. Another question: I've never gone into a BB gun or pellet gun. I do have some mechanical background. Is this something I might fix myself or will it need to go back for repair? Thanks again.

There's no parallax adjustment or focus ring, so may be limited to 3-7x, have to see how it is on the range. Well, the manual is WRONG. When a rifle is fired the recoil pushes the rifle backwards. Imagine the scope trying to stay in one place, but the rifle moves backwards. So, the scope WILL slip forward on the loose "stop peg" until the '"stop peg" catches it. So, if you do not want your scope to move and loose sight alignment you must push the scope FORWARD until the "stop peg" catches it.

You have to insert the pellets into the magazine with some sort of tool, like a small screwdriver or an allen key. Unless you have very skinny pointy fingers, just using your finger won't get the pellets in there far enough and they'll fall out when you cock it. That improves the rate they fall out, but I still see one in twenty or so fall out. It's easy enough to take the loader out, and I'm sorely tempted.

Most of the Gamo Rifle Scopes that came with my Gamo Air Rifles were junk and broke inside due to the excessive recoil frontward and backward when you fire an IGT or springer type air rifle. You need to buy a better rifle scope that is made to withstand the impact forces that result when firing a springer type air rifles. And the Gamo IGT is very similar when talking about the forces that affect the scope. You need to use a torque wrench to tighten the screws tight enough to not have the scope move when you shoot the gun and not so tight as to strip the threads. When you are tightening up the screws apply some blue colored Loctite to the screw threads and then torque them down to about 25 ft/lbs of torque. Let the Loctite dry overnight before using the rifle/scope.

I just bought a swarm, bought a real scope on it and scope mounts creep right off the rail in a few shots. No matter how much you tighten this system cannot keep a scope secure. Waste

SERIOUSLY!!!! Has this guy ever taken a gun out? I looked through the comments and I didn't see one person noticed his scope was 90 degrees off. If you are going to have a person show us, then have a person that knows what they are doing and not some white color penny chaser. Myscope you couldn't adjust the parallax to show a sharp image past four power. Adjust it for three x and four x was blurry. Adjust it for four x and three x was blurry. My 3x9 scope was blurry from 5 and up no matter the distance I aimed or how I adjusted the parallax. I suppose I will contact them on my new gen 2 maxxim storm .177. I am confused also, is this guy from Gamo? Gamo and daisy are not linked. So is this guy a air gun dealer?

LOL never heard of this term, "white color penny chaser" any color could be a penny chaser or a dollar chaser

@@jeansandmyshirt I think he maybe meant to spell "collar" as in the vid guy doesn't get his hands dirty by actually shooting the stuff he sells. Just my guess

Gamo made this six years ago and it’s not relevant to the gun I purchased today.

mounting is the easy part. why not show us how to zero it in?
@deanmyburg45404 жыл бұрын
So I take it Gamo and Daisy don't use any torque settings. Just tighten till it breaks. Maybe take the word "correctly" out of the video title. Rather call it, "A guide to mounting a scope".

That rifle never should have been released without an adjustable comb. Optic sits way high and will frustrate you.

I had no issues mounting my Vortex crossfire 2x7 . Dozen shots and I had it sighted in.
@Moveon100014 жыл бұрын
@@slidersez Hold the rifle as if you are going to start shooting it. Pull it up and put your cheek on the rifle stock. Do that several times and see where you naturally place your cheek on the stock each time. You will find a spot that you naturally rest your cheek upon. Now move the scope back in the mount until you can see the entire scope picture and you have proper eye relief. Then and only then start to tighten down the scope screws with the proper torque and don't forget to add a drop or two of blue Loctite to the threads on the screws. Make sure that the scope and gun are level and then make sure that the scope reticle is square to the gun. When the gun is held in place and level to the earth the scope's horizontal reticle should be level too.

HAHAH Dint know you could mount it for left handed people. The dials will be FLIPPED as the GAMO scope says UP and LEFT. The way he mounted it, the dial arrows will indicate up now is LEFT and left is now UP by dialing COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Good luck.

I like the rail system, but it allows no adjustments for eye relief. And that right there makes it useless to me. I expected better than that from Gamo 👎

It's a shame such a terrible video is coming from the manufacturer of the product.

David Burgess could have at least used a rifle rest instead of dragging the barrel all across the table

A quick and fast video that left out a lot of quality control steps. They should redo the video and have a real expert show how to mount the scope to the rifle and do it right.
