Hi. I have been using a Splashdrone for fishing here in New Zealand for years. A tip. Instead of using a loop to attach your line to the drone which requires opening and closing the release, I tie a small cheap aluminium carabiner to the line where the loop would be. Then to attach it to the drone all you have to do is lift the drone in one hand and snap on the carabiner. I just tie the carabiner onto the 2m dropper line with a uni knot at the closed end. The sinker is at the bottom of the dropper attached by a clip to a 3 way swivel and then the main line attaches to the 3rd eye of the swivel. This set up will never foul at the release and is quick and easy to use.

Totally agree. The backbones with snapper traces from Paul's Fishing Systems in Onehunga that go with drones are far better and safer than the setup in this video. No risk of any pendulum effect and superior control of the drone with sinkers directly under the drone's mechanical release due to a short steel trace plus the additional payload on a long-line setup.

@@therealrelationshipguy I agree (also in NZ) and Paul's system is great for beginners but not necessarily the best either. I drone fish alone all the time and change methods according to weather and species targeted. I've had plenty of issues with Paul's rig style (I make my own though but have copied his and tested it) too. To be fair it's a lot harder doing it alone and I get way more issues because of that.

Ooh man, completely agree with not attaching the line to the drone in the air, I don't do anything with the crone in the air, just fly it and land it. I crashed mine in the early days and the blades chewed through a 7/0 hook. The propellor wasn't badly damaged and is still in circulation but the hook was cut in half. Good point.

I always thought by physics the biggest weight should me close to the drone. as swinging is a real problem when it's long, so it's totally wrong and easier if I rig the sinker or bait couple metres down ?

Think of it like a ships anchor. They lay out a lot of chain to help keep them in place. Basically the same principle here.

just a note, I have experianced that a big loop at the bait drop meganisme got caught on the servo nut to the pin and thus the bait did not drop, to avoid that I made a slipknot that at the bait release pin to avoid a snag, big loop potential for a snag at the servo.

thiucker line or smaller loop will also work

Great info, I have purchased a FD1 for fishing, however I have only been able to calibrate it and the fly about 20 yards before the "Battery Low" indicator came on and the battery won't charge. Have been attempting to correct this issue with the company for over 2 weeks, to no avail. Buy at your own risk.

I’ve never flown a drone before. Are they easy ? I’m interested in one of these to target tope from the shore
@mike_oe Жыл бұрын
yes, it will take a little practice to get orientation right, but the new drones are super stable. They basically park steadily in the air until you give them an input with one of the sticks.

There is no need to have that long of a lead from the release.. if your sinker is at the bottom it’ll hang below the drone..

way too complicated... I drone fish all the time and don't do any of that crazy stuff and I do it alone too

Your measurements are all over the place, no offence, maybe an editing issue, some of it didn’t make sense. What do you mean by keeping the Drone away from the props? Once again editing issue not checking that you are making sense. 👋✌️
