How to cover 3D printed wings

Hi there... question. Can't you use a heat gun to do the final shrinking of the film? Seems easier and less hot than using iron.

Hi, heat gun is not a good option. Although it is not as hot, it is warming up big part of the wing. It is enough to heat up the plastics by a few degrees and it already expands. Only option I know of, is to use something like a funnel attached to a heat gun which funnels all the heat through narrow hole in order to apply it very locally - only to middle of the diamonds - areas where there is no plastics under the foil (I know a person who had pretty good results with that approach).

What about self adhesive film like Orastick. Wouldn't that work if you apply it with some tension?

@KRAGA models At what point do you know it's "good"? My fear is to over heat the PLA. Do you use LW-PLA or PETG instead of PLA to print the wings - it would be a bit more heat resistant.

Well, it is done already :-) I just need to release it (make all the assembly guides and drawings and videos ...). But first I'm going to release Kodo II, which will be soon.

Simply said: Oralight from Oracover or UltraCote lite in combination with covering film adhesive (like Cover grip from Deluxe materials) and trimming iron instead of standard one.
