Nataly Vargas I put the cake on a board the same size as the cake, then that can be hot glued to the cake drum that have been covered with the paper. If you watch the entire video, I think I mention that...(I think lol), it’s been I while since I’ve watched this.

Hi, I have just seen your video and it's great. I love the concept of using any paper to cover a board with and in the UK we do have the plastic sticky back paper but is it food safe or does it not need to be? The majority of websites say to cover books with so can I use it under a cake? I know the cake will go on a board but the cake will come in to contact with the plastic is that safe as I can't for dear life find a food, safe plastic adhesive paper?

Hi S V, Thanks! So, the only part of the cake that will come in to contact with the plastic, is the very bottom of your fondant or buttercream, or perhaps a border, as you should have that cake board under your cake (same size as the cake). However, when I purchase plastic I always look on the packaging for the name of the plastic used, and Google if it’s Food safe. For example, I purchased some great under counter recycle bins from IKEA to store flour and sugar in. I googled the type of plastic they were made of and they were safe. So if you can find an adhesive plastic that is safe, I would wipe it down before placing the cake on top. You could also use not adhesive plastic that is good safe, and use spray adhesive on the board before applying the plastic. Hope this helps :)

Do you need to cover the board in foil first? Or can you glue straight onto the boards. And how many boards do you stack to get that height?

Brianna Radloff you could glue it right to the board (no foil first), as the plastic covering you put over the paper will seal it. When gluing the cardboard cake circles together, I usually use 3 for that height. Hope this helps:)

I have a question. I do bundt cakes and there's no extra board under the cake. Is it safe to just put the cake on the board that have been covered? Please help

pas69 good question! I have 2 answers lol. 1. You could still put your bundt cake on a board that you have cut a hole out of the centre. Then secure it to the covered cake board with a little hot glue (this is safe because the glue is in between the cake board under your cake and the plastic that’s covering your scrapbook paper covered drum or board). 2. Whatever plastic covering you find (whether in be cupboard liner or the stuff to cover and protect your books), it should say what kind of plastic it’s made of. You can google to see if it’s a good safe plastic. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean the factory the plastic was produced in is a clean, food safe environment. That said, I think your safest bet would be to use option 1 :) P.S. I LOVE bundt cakes!

pas69 I just though of a 3rd option! You can replace the plastic with Glad Press and Seal (it’s food safe) and it should stick to the paper on its own without glue. It just won’t be as clear to allow your pattern from your paper to show through as well...but food safe!

Can't you put the plastic on the paper and then stick the board onto the covered paper so you only have to cut the circle out once? Instead of breaking every step apart ?

Hi there, you put a protective plastic coating on top of the paper. The cake that goes on the covered board actually sits on a board the same size as the cake.

It is scrapbook paper and clear plastic that is sticky on one side to cover text books. Not sure what brands are available to you. Hope this helps :)

Aaliya_ mol oh, I understand. These are called cake drums / boards. They are manufactured using cardboard and then covered with foil paper. I purchase them from a company called Petra International
