So you have to add custom instructions each time you want to change the persona? Makes sense but it would be much quicker and easier if the persona was per chat.

I would not portend to say that ChatGPT should build custom instructions for you, but it is a good tool for proofing those you build yourself. In other words, it’s always good to ask it how it recommends you write custom instructions to achieve similar results to those it just provided in a chat you consider successful in a more succinct way. Case in point: I was having difficulty getting ChatGPT to perform a comprehensive and complete topical search of Scripture. It kept saying the Bible was too big for it, and that I wouldn’t want all the data I was requesting. I knew better - ChatGPT was made for this very thing. So, I argued with it for quite some time until I got the results I wanted. Once ChatGPT acknowledged what I wanted, the next thing I did was ask what prompt would convey my intent in order to avoid the long, drawn-out discussion that had just transpired. It came up with this: -------- I would like a comprehensive list of all verses from Genesis to Revelation in the KJV that discuss “the counsel of the ungodly,” either in part or in whole, regardless of whether explicitly or implicitly. Please provide each scripture followed by its reference in this format: [scripture] [book] [chapter(s)]:[verse(s)] ([version]) I understand this is an extensive request and am prepared for a lengthy response. Please proceed with compiling the list without any additional comments on the task's length or complexity. ------ Works in one go, everytime.

I probably got lost somewhere along the way :D You started a new chat (while custom instructions were active) You then opened the settings and switched off Custom Instructions (which of course does NOT deactivate Custom Instructions for the chat you're in) And then you used the same prompt, once more with Custom Instructions *still active* because you hadn't made a new chat session after that. And assumed that the output was not influenced by the obviously-present Custom Instructions... I don't know what step I missed. But following those steps I see that Custom Instructions remains active when trying the prompt the second time. Any pointers or suggestions that can help to understand this?
