So I did learn a lot during this build... and that's to dye the leather before cutting out the circles .... I dyed after and they lost the roundness... and to be totally honest ... I built the positive lock but as you said in one of your videos 'trust in the pattern' and i questioned it and I decided the rise was to much so I trimmed it out a little and now it doesn't get that positive lock LOL oh and I wind up making it left handed something i totally wasn't even thinking about which is fine but i tooled the leather and it looks great .... epic fail maybe... many lessons learned absolutely... it would be nice if i could post a picture of it cause it does look really cool...

Well Frank I just love this kind of review. I too, go thru these head scratching moments 😂 Thanks for this and just keep after it. Eventually your failure rate will improve and you can then say “ I’ve learned so much from my mistakes that I think I’ll make more” If you have Instagram you can direct message (dm) (@viktorgeorgeleathergoods) me that way or just text me at (520)909-8256 with your photos Thanks again for an entertaining read🤙

I love this episode. I made this pattern and it worked out very well. Could you demonstrate how to design a knife sheath for a knife that does not have a straight handle. Like a slightly curved offset handle to the blade. Just cuz all knives don’t have straight handles. Thank you. Jim Trantham, Prescott, Az.

Hello Jim Thanks for the kind words They are so appreciated What type of sheath for a curved handled knife are you interested in?
@jimtrantham1195
@jimtrantham1195 6 ай бұрын
@@viktorgeorge9144 most any kind of sheath. I’m finding when I make a sheath for a knife with a curved handle the spine of the blade doesn’t necessarily lay straight against the sheath causing gaps inside. I really like your welting design ideas and I think that might solve some of the looseness fitting. Also a knife that has a slightly curved blade causes issues as well…. I’ve watched everyone of your videos and have discovered many many useful ideas and skills that improve my construction methods. I know the leather craft community can gain great insights from accomplished craftsman as yourself. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Jim

I appreciate the kind words Mark Thank you That’s an interesting thought I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on a small liteweight gun. Would probably need a few more anchor points but should work!!! Thanks for the banter my friend

Great idea. One question. When you add the lock tight, does that make it harder to change the position or will a standard screw driver just undo the placement and you can add more lock tight on the new position. Thanks!

Thanks for the engagement Yes the “blue” loctite can be undone with a good fitting screwdriver ( unlike the one I used on the video😉) Red loctite is almost permanent from what I’m told. I only use blue

Is there any way to cut semi-circle slots for infinite cant adjustment or do you need to punch holes at a predetermined angle (or multiple holes at the clock angles)? Also, that system should also work with your more complex sheaths (not the "taco"). Good vid! I will be trying this.

Thanks Jeff I always appreciate sheath banter. The only way I have done these is with the holes to angle the sheath Many angle variations to choose. Normally I get asked for 3 positions I think someone smarter then me could design something more efficient 😂

Do you mind telling me where you sourced the t nuts and bolts?
@viktorgeorge9144
@viktorgeorge9144 9 ай бұрын
Of course The tee nuts are easily sourced at places like Home Depot, Ace or Lowe’s and various holster supply outlets I routinely use 1/4” shaft with 8/32nd thread which fits standard Chicago Screws with a 3/8th ” screw. These are also available at SpringfieldLeather Co or Tandy. Online searches yield many sources like buckleguy.com Best of luck and have fun
