Hi everyone! In today's video, I'm talking about how to create a battle, war or tournament arc in your manga, comic or light novel. In most mangas, the plot is divided into story arcs. The arcs are like mini stories, within the bigger story, and help to make the whole plot easier to understand and more enjoyable. In a lot of shounen manga, you will notice that there are sometimes arcs that focus more on battles, wars or even tournaments. In today's video, I am putting a focus on each kind of arc, and talking about ways you can effectively create them in your own projects. I hope you enjoy this video, and it helps with your manga creations!! 😁

My superhero/space opera novel series starts with a short tournament, that's actually a prelude to the crisis that threatens the cosmos.

I have 2 tournaments type of arcs in my manga the first one is more like a battle royale/rescue arc were the main protagonist’s cousin gets captured after a big war arc and so she has to fight against 25 other people for her freedom the whole point of the arc is so I can give this character more time to show them off and give more backstory on them and cause this arc traumatizes them even more than they already felt in the previous arc especially after watching a friend/ally she just made kill themselves in front of her the second tournament arc I have is kinda like a time trail/challenge that goes all around the city like the characters have to complete a series of challenges in time or else they’ll be disqualified which technically just means they’ll be killed, this arc kinda takes inspiration from the movie Nerve

I love batlle arcs. They always show some sort of underline issue that bubbles to the surface it's so cathartic. In my story, the tension is there since the first chapter ( The setting plays literally in the apocalypse) the war plays in the background throughout so to speak. But in the middle when all of my characters realize why the war happened and who is responsible and should work together to take down the culprit it becomes a huge war

I have just finish my war but I wish I seen this before writing my tournament arc because it’s over 9,000 pages of type writing 🤣. But it’s epic and worth it. Because the war arc is arcs after the tournament. But the tournament is more is a Olympic sport so it happens every 10 years. And well I already gave you details of it on the DMs

My tournament arc works like this: There are two main parts of the tournament: The battle royal(preliminary round) and the actual tournament, The tournament starts with 320 participants who then fight in a battle royal style preliminary round. When you lose a wristband (that was placed on your wrist), upon losing it you are no longer allowed to fight (they are disqualified), after 72 hours the remaining 32 participants are accepted into the actual tournament. The actual tournament has 5 rounds, there is a 2 day resting period between the preliminary round and the first round of the main tournament

So what if the participants are already down to 32 before 72 hours elapses? Or what if at the end of the 72 hrs, there are like 48 players left standing? What then? Are the slots for the 2nd round limited to 32 only?
