Small tip to avoid the long loading times when searching the right parameters for saving the gif: Right before saving, you can narrow down the working space (right word?! It's "Arbeitsbereich" in german) which can be found in the timeline. There is one slider for the beginning and one for the end of it. When you bring it down to, let's say, 2 frames and then save for web, the loading time between the different parameters will be substantially lower. When you've found the perfect parameters, keep them in mind and extend the the working space back to original length, before you save the gif. This saved me a lot of time.

A simple but effective tutorial. I used this for a project for school. An important aspect to take note is to avoid having an overlap. For example, if the bubbles were to go over her body, that part of the body that would have been painted over will move. It is best to plan out if the video is able to be played on a loop without an abrupt transition. Thanks Aaron!

Does it play faster or can you set the frame speed, or use a another framespeed on the original movie to make it look more realistic in play speed or does it depend on the computer you run your gif on.

Love your tutorials. Is it possible to add sound to a gif?
@saimen201010 жыл бұрын
I don't think that you can add music to a gif file (I'm not sure). But you also have the possibility to "insert" sound afterwards if you want, to do this you have to go easily to this site -> gifsound.com/ ...there you can insert the link of your .gif file, then the url from an soundtrack or something (it's possible to choose when the music shall starts). Now click on combine and you have .gif with sound. Sure, it's not exactly the same as if you would render it, with music in it. But it's also pretty simple and fast to use this method. Hope it helped!

Good tutorial! My Macbook would not export the GIF-image, unknown error. Guess the graphic card can't handle it or I have got not enough memory/disk space or all together. However, I still have my desktop computer with enough power! Make sure your computer is fit for the task, especially when dealing with high-res images.

Say I took a picture of the same scene after I recorded what I wanted, would I be able to bring in That picture I use as the picture I use to mask? Thnx for all your videos. Big help.
@suericata7 жыл бұрын
To make the GIF look good you just switch the top tab from "Optimized" to "Original", that makes the best quality. Thanks for the tutorial!
@pixelgenau29827 жыл бұрын
That would be wrong, Sue. "Original" shows the image in its original format with no web-optimizing. "Optimized" shows the image with the export settings you chosen yourself for a web image. Be it GIF, JPEG or PNG with the specific settings. Therefore it's only for comparison.

This maybe a stupid question, so bear with me...I watched your newer video on the same subject, and you emphasized on creating a duplicate layer and fading it out so the first and last frames were the same...why do you not need to do that here? Is it because this one doesn’t need to be continuous, since it has a starting and ending point and the continuity can be created with the gif forever setting, but the video with the ocean does? Thank you in advance!

@Shafiq_Jai8 жыл бұрын
You can try rendering the video. Export it as video. It worked out for me and the quality is superb as compared if you export it as gif.
@bendarby11478 жыл бұрын
Little late to the game, but if you're still struggling I suggest dropping the frame rate of the video and then when exporting for web, reduce the image size to something more reasonable (assuming your source footage is 1080p). Alternatively, render the video, then open that file in photoshop again and export that as a GIF. It should help reduce the initial file size and stop the unknown error.

That is a really great tutorial, thank you! btw How did you post it on Google Chrome to test it? Or can you send it to yourself on an email?
@MarkDelawar10 жыл бұрын
If you are on a Mac, one simple way to preview the image using Chrome is to drag the .gif to the Chrome icon on the Dock. Haven't tried it on Windows but it would probably work the same there as well.

Totally confused on 5:32 . you said you are creating a new layer but cursor was on 'lock postition'. here 5:36 the new blank layer was changed to thumbnail or a copy of layer 1 when dragged to right. how you did it? the cursor was still on 'lock postition ' icon.?? i think you are using shortcut keys or some other things too. which are missing from tutorial. please explain this.

Hey Aaron. Great video. Really phlearned a lot. Question tho. To create cinemagraphs like this using photoshop & video, which is most important to have on your computer....Ram? Graphics card?
