Great tutorial but you left many important things out. For example, pressure property on each surface must be opposite (one positive, one negative), and you should take account of the surface direction (normal) when deciding which it should be.

Thank you Mike Hermes. For the lesson. And for taking into consideration my request about recording mouse pointer. I noted it. So, do not we need 3DS MAX or Maya cloth modifiers?

You've given me a fantastic idea, thank you very much for this video :) I've got one question though - I do struggle with this Pressure Option, it seems to have a bit of a mind of its own. For me, I find it's either too high or too low, and then my duvet (just a basic duvet) then seems to breathe in/out !!! If you click on that down arrow under the word Pressure, what is that other option for ? I can't seem to understand why there seems to be one option for whole numbers of pressure and the other drop down for pressure to one decimal place ??

Hi Mike, Thank you for the great tutorial! I am using MD 8 and I made a comforter, it looks great, but it is wiggling and shimmying all over the grid, LOL. I tried to lower pressure, even at 1 it's doing it. I flipped normals, still the same...what the heck did I do wrong?

How much of a final asset can Marvelous truly export? I mean in terms of textures etc. Does it create normal maps etc, or does it create only a basemesh? Because I see people tweak back and forth, Zbrush ->Marvelous and I don't quite see that workflow meaning. ( I mean both in terms of sculpting/ creating tex.) Doesn't look that simple... Zbrush - Marvelous - Zbrush workflow?
@MHTutorials3D
@MHTutorials3D 6 жыл бұрын
The base mesh is pretty much it. Then export and detailing in ZBrush, retopo for low poly, then map baking and texturing. You can apply textures in MD though but it depends on how you are going to use your model

Mike Hermes i see so for details i will have to sculpt them, i guess im a bit afraid of how sculpting affects the base mesh... to my understanding thesr marvelous meshes are dynamic so if i edit them im zbrush i get a static mesh without animation. Or does it conserve something after sculpt edit?.. say i wanted a drapery affected by wind... if i go to detail in zbrush and go back to simulation, i will have retopo, simulate again? Or would you rig it in maya? Im saying this because i see you simulate in this video and the mesh looks like its affected by physics (which looks super cool)
@MHTutorials3D
@MHTutorials3D 6 жыл бұрын
Exporting with animation is a very different process :-)
@Jez2008UK
@Jez2008UK 5 жыл бұрын
The 'animation' is the simulation of the cloth. In MD you play the simulation and mess around with your duvet, comforter, pillows, clothing etc etc until you are happy with the shape. Then you stop the simulation and export the mesh straight to 3DS Max or Maya, or first into ZBrush and sculpt some more details, like creases etc. Finally, you bring it into 3DS Max, apply your textures and render. In MD8, you can do a lot of the sculpting of creases with the new Sculpt tools they've introduced, so if you don't have zbrush or the skills of using zbrush, you can sculpt those in MD8 - they are pretty easy and intuitive and while basic, they could be enough. I'm learning MD8 myself, and for me it is a lot of playing around because while there are tutorials out there, you really have to get your hands dirty and learn 'the hard way' (i.e. trial and error). Personally, in MD I really do not like the transform - it is *incredibly* tedious to move something around (all the tutorials show you putting stuff on the floor, but when you have to arrange it for real world, say pillows, duvets etc on a bed, you can spend a lot of time 'faffing' around.
