Hey Lex, awesome video. But now Hubspot have changed the method to using Oauth instead of the API keys. Do you have some non-code ways to do this for all us low-code marketers :)

Hi @Jarryd Biddle, thanks for watching! HubSpot published this article that walks through setting this up using a private app and postman - developers.hubspot.com/blog/how-to-build-a-custom-object-using-private-apps I will work on creating a video for this soon!

Can I make a custom object have the same operation capabilities as contacts? I want to separate my customers into contacts and have a custom object for my partners. Our company is a market place so we have two sets of "customers." Would we have the same capabilities with emailing, sequences, workflows, etc. setting up our HS this way?

Hi @Totr10, thanks for watching! To separate your contacts into two separate groups of customers, I would recommend simply using a contact property to indicate the customer type. If you make a custom object for partners, it will have nearly all of the capabilities that the native contact object has, but the contact object is always going to be the one that is tied to sending out marketing emails. You can still do this, and then your contacts who are partners will have a contact record and a partner record that are associated together in your CRM. Please let me know if you would like to discuss this more!

What's the workaround to achieve this without an enterprise account? Any suggestions
@LexHultquist2 жыл бұрын
Hi Zachery, thanks for watching! I do not have a great workaround here. Depending on the complexity of the relationships and information you are trying to set up, sometimes you can manage this with a set of custom properties, workflows and lists, but more often the object associations are necessary. We have many partners and clients get service hub enterprise primarily for the custom object piece, and help position the Knowledge Base and Customer Survey tools to justify the ROI / value.

Hi, nice job! I have an error trying to create a custom object like you. I have "Starter" license at my Hubspot environment. Is that enough to create the custom object? The error is this one: The scope needed for this API call isn't available for public use. If you have questions, contact support or post in our developer forum.

Hi Renis, thanks for watching! You are correct, custom objects requires at least one Enterprise Hub in your HubSpot portal.

Yes, thanks! I used a 14Days trial and created the custom object. Do you know what happens after 14 days? Will the custom object be deleted? I am asking because I need only one object and that's all. So, can't buy the Enterprise Hub only for that.
@LexHultquist2 жыл бұрын
Previously, after the 14 days you can no longer update or create new custom objects, but they were still accessible to view. If you eventually upgrade, they would definitely still be there.

The company I just took over sales for uses Hubspot and their deal amounts are all messed up because the include the onboarding fee. So they track actual MRR on a spreadsheet which is so dumb. Is it possible to create two amount fields, one for MRR and one for Due at signing? I'm a SF person and new to Hubspot.

Hello! Yes, I do think this is possible in a couple of different ways. I would consider custom deal properties with the initial and recurring amounts or different line items on the quote. Custom objects could handle this too, but might be more than what is needed in this case.
