This is the second part in a 3 part series DEDICATED to giving you the chance to play Rugby 08 in the best way possible. In the last episode we had a tutuorial on how to download this game. In this episdoe we will look at custom screen resolutions and how to get this game looking almost 4K quality. We will finish off with an episode on mods and how to install them, so that you can have all the latest kits, teams and stadiums etc.

@@BearsGamer Ive had one problem you might be able to help with, every time I click on system settings in game it crashes and closes the game. Currently re installing to see if it helps, just wondered if youve encountered that issue?

@@BearsGamer Sorry not system settings, its the step after when i click on display options, thats when it crashes. The re-install hasn't fixed it either

With something like that I'd recommend reducing the some of the graphics settings but if you can't even get to the display settings then that's very strange 🤔

@@BearsGamer figured it out now! I have 2 monitors and the game doesnt seem to like it for some reason, when i use just one display it doesn’t crash when i try to access the display settings

Hi there, thanks for the vids, just subsribed. You seem very knowlegable on Rugby 08 so I am reaching out. I jst dloaded the game onto my pc, running Win 10. I have a 2560 x 1440 monitor so do you have any idea what value I should be changing and to what? I looked around if anyone else asked this but nope. The other thing is, I am using an Xbox 360 controller and ALL the button are wonky...Start is sprint for example, which controller are you using? I assume i need some software or something...any ideas on that one? It truly is a great game, so many great memories..thanks in advance for any help

Hey there, I believe the number values you will need for your resolution is 90 06 1A 04, give that ago and let me know if it's ok. As for the controller, I use a ps4 controller with the DS4 software. I've had a few people ask about Xbox but I'm really not sure as I don't use it.

Make sure your resolution in the game settings is set to 1024 x 768 so that the values you need to change will be the same as what I show in the video. Thanks for subscribing 😊

The DS4 software tricks your laptop/PC into thinking its an Xbox controller. PS controllers don't work on 08 without it. I've never had to remap anything, once I started using it everything was fine. There is an option on the software to remap different things if needed though 👍🏻

Have you maxed out the screen resolution in the game settings before making the adjustments to the hex code. It needs to be saved on the highest resolution in the game settings.

Which mod do you need to install prior? I’ve tried this with base game and every time I try to edit display settings the game crashes, likewise I can’t load my profile after I edit it in the hex editor. I have a great pc so it can handle whatever settings but the game hates it 😕

No mod needed, should work fine with the base game. Not sure what the issue is. Have you changed the display settings before hex editing?

@@BearsGamer I can’t even do that, I load up a fresh profile and go to edit the display settings and boom crash. I go to edit hex settings and then the profile becomes unloadable. Super weird.

To get a PS4 controller to work you need to download a software called DS4. Just Google it. It's free. It basically tricks your PC into thinking it's an Xbox 360 controller 👍🏻

You have downloaded the wrong rugby 08 if it requires a disk. On oldgamesdownload.com there are two options, try the other one.

Mine definitely doesn’t stretch it out. If you are doing all steps correctly then it should work fine. Make sure your settings in game are correct for example.

Check the rugby forum thread. There are links to all available resolutions. I use the highest possible resolution on my laptop and can hook it up to a 4k via HDMI and it looks fantastic.

Am I the only one struggling? Pc's are my thing and this is baffling. Following the process step by step and error 0x80070002 is coming up error finding the file.... the only thing I have noticed that is different is the walk through the file type is a pro file and mine is just application. I am almost there lol

It's the .pro file you need to hex edit. This is your profile, it is not found in the games files but in a separate folder with your roster file.

You need to open the game once and create a profile and make a change to a roster in squad management and save it. Hopefully then they will appear, usually in my documents. That's where mine appeared 👍🏻

Are you using the profile that came with the mods or your own default one? If using the default one then you need to swap it for the one in the mods.
