Jockeying feels like youre stuck in mud sometimes LS dribbling feels like that too. Idk about you but the pitch feels congested in the middle. The ball Always bounces off people and interceptions you get about 3x more than last fifa per game

Your last FIFA being FIFA 19 isn't the problem! Since FIFA 13 the last one I properly played was FIFA 22. I didn't play FIFA 23 for almost it's entirety, 2 weeks ago I played at my cousins' house against both of them, who play it loads and are pretty good at the game. 8 times out of 10 I beat them. Now I'm playing EA FC 24 and getting smashed most games. By that I mean I'm losing 3-1, but I'll have 2 shots my opponent will have 10 or 15 shots. I've no clue what the issue is

I'm pretty bad at defending 🤣 now it makes a lot of sense, I'm always mashing X or O which is exactly what I'm seeing here, getting caught short at the back and players out of position. I mostly play AI squad battles but I don't play online as I'm not great against other people 😅 I'll definitely be trying this out. The sliding makes sense now too, I always thought it was off timed as I'm ALWAYS catching the player as they touch the ball ahead in replays and your replay shows exactly why as it's off by a second from input

Boys, I'm the same. I've been playing since FIFA06. R1 dribbling is absolutely king if you can master it which is not hard. It's just the years of not using R1 as much that's the tricky part for me. But controlled sprinting is absolutely awesome.

To be completely honest, do not follow every advice as a flow chart, first you have to read the opponent, if he is a dribbler and does skill moves all the time if you try to follow with jockeyrun his exits to stop him you're going to get passed easily, instead just try to stay in the position of the defender and partially use double tap R1 to keep other players marked and make sure he doesn't find a pass... you will see that you'll get the ball automatically. If he is a slow play maker try to focus on his run to tackle the ball a the right time, but me aware that you have to be a little closer to him. And is always better that if the player likes to do cutbacks (he gets as close to the end of the pitch to do a pass to the center of the box which there is generally 2 unmarked players) just try to close the pass and preferably he will take a corner instead of a goal

You should youse advanced defending. The awkard moment at 3.45 was a perfect example, with advanced devending you can press A(xbox) or X(PS) to perform a shoulder push. In that moment you should have pressed A/X to push him from the ball. They make defending more skillfull. So only holding the L2 button wont help you this year.

Can confirm these tips work. Was in a funk before of bad defence and untimed tackles. Last 3 games, all W's. 2-0 | 2-0 | 2-1 The games before D 5|5 D 5|5 W 3|2 I'm in the second devision. My also tip is just not to rush to much to get the ball back and have patience. Everything will work out, if not, there always is a next game, hahaha. :)

my biggest issue this year seems to be intercepting passes. Half the time I put my player in the passing lane to block a pass, my player doesnt retain possession of the ball when they intecept the pass. It just bounces off their feet and goes back to my opponent and then im out of position and I concede.

For me it doesn't work. Even if I don't sprint, my player just go straight, they don't start doing weird stuff, if I move the analog randomly, it will just go to the direction I'm putting. I don't know how my opponent make those weird stuff, even if i stay still and block the pass, they will just start shooting from where they are or just go around my player. Even if I try to stick into the position, my player will just get passed in sprint by anyone, even by Giroud. It's just frustrating.
