I just did this method and I really like the result! I didn’t use a blade to blend, because I have thin hair and It wasn’t even necessary, go figure. I left my front ends longer, and I will probably approach an even shorter look in the back after New Years. The way this guide is presented is in a very non-threatening way, so you become unafraid of trying. I recommend to err on the side of pulling your back elastic a little longer than you want, for your cut, just so you have extra hair for mistakes. I cut my hair on a greasy hair day and I made sure to part my hair very well and also straightened it first. I ended up making no mistakes this way! Best of luck everyone!

I have also gone to the salon many times & left with uneven / choppy hair. You would think "professionals" would be able to do an even haircut. That should be a basic that they learn in cosmetology school. But shocked that some still can't seem to do it. So I figure it's worth trying to do myself....I mean her haircut turned out better than any "professional" hair stylist can seem to cut hair in my area. And why give them money to botch my hair, when I can do the same thing or better myself.

I tried this today because I'm so sick of paying so much money going from hairdresser to hairdresser trying to get a decent cut & always being disappointed. I absolutely love it. Best cut I've had in years. Only down side- I snipped my finger with my shears... so be careful. Thankyou so much xxx

Isn't it absolutely ridiculous how most hairdressers have started charging so frickin much?!! I mean, I totally understand they gotta make a living, but [aprx] $85-150 for a wash+cut is a joke and half the time a rip off as many either don't really listen to what you actually want, or they just gave you a really bad haircut. I shockingly found someone amazing. He never disappointed me, not once in the few years I went to his salon. He charged $35 for both cut+wash! This is in a very trendy area in Los Angeles, he could be charging three times as much but would never do that he once told me. Sadly since Covid they're not open anymore. Sorry for rambling, it just makes no sense at some of the prices you see nowadays. This video was exactly what I needed, I can't wait to do this to my crazy "covid" hair, just need the razor 😍

Ain't that the truth. I've been through the mill looking for a decent hairdresser for years. Most of the time, I'm very disappointed with the cut. The odd time I've found a good hairdresser, they move away and I'm back to square one again. I can also say that this is the best cut I've had in years too! Sharee is the best.

I am by no means a professional, but I cut my mom's hair like this a little over year ago, and she loved it so much that she has asked me to redo her haircut like three times already. I was gonna cut her hair again today, and just thought I'd refresh my memory of this cut, and all I can say is: thank you, girl, this trick is brilliant and actually looks close to professional.

Ive always had super long hair (with super dead ends). I watched this video a few months ago... i said, "i could do that..." Went into the bathroom for 20 mins, and came out a whole new person. The next day i ran into an acquaintance with her 4 year old granddaughter, and i heard her granddaughter whisper, "mom mom, is she a princess?" From that day on i knew this was gonna be my hairstyle for a long time. I get compliments all the time and my boyfriend absolutely loves it. And so do i. So i just wanted to say thanks for making me a princess! 👸🏼

I divided it as you show and got my husband to help a little in the back. Truthfully I can't see much difference than when I pay. I appreciate it!!!. I'm a licensed Cosmetologist, and Cosmetology Instructor, and i think she did a fabulous job! It looks great. I started cutting hair long before i went to school. But it's not just you guys that get bad cuts. I actually went to get my haircut once, took a picture w/me, and asked before if they were able to do the cut, & was told yes. I even gave her specific instructions on exactly what i wanted. All i got was a basic blunt cut that i could have goven myself! It's difficult finding someone you trust & that does a great job. I've found the best way I find a great stylist is by looking at other women, & when you see someone who has a great cut, color, whatever you are looking to get done, ask her who she goes to. Hope this helps you all find a great stylist! Every woman deserves to look & feel beautiful, & like a million bucks!

I'm a retired hair and nail tech, I think you did just fine. It's the end cut that shows it, it looks great and it's just what you were going for. How you got there doesn't matter. In fact, I wear my hair in an A line bob about that same length. Next time I cut it, which I need to do because it's been like 3 months now, I'm doing it this way. Much easier and faster than what I usually do to cut my own hair. Great job!

I couldn’t agree more with you, I was thinking the same thing the whole time I’m watching her in this video. Well oh my goodness look at this I was just in lightened on the easier way to do it myself as well. Because I definitely take the long way around instead of just even for the target like she did. So I think she’s got quite a few professional fans out there.

@@jessiemelearm5275 Wow! Four years gone by and I'm still wearing the same cut, but if something works you stick with it, right! It definitely works, you need the right tools, too. I've got good hair cutting shears, an electric razor and a good straight razor with different cutting heads. I do this and incorporate a more shattered layer look in the back & sides and BINGO!! I haven't gone to a salon to get a hair cut in about 10 years, being a hair tech, I'm picky about my own cut, only I know what I really want. If I screw it up there's only me to blame! : )

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I agree with the commenter here who said stylists don't like these types of videos because they take customers away. But we customers HAVE TO resort to cutting our own hair when stylists don't know how to give us the cut/style we ask for. I plan to watch this video several times & work up the courage to cut my own hair into a bob like this. I'll have to wait some months for my last bad haircut to grow out & maybe I'll be ready then.

I am a hairstylist, and I think you’re amazing! And in no way am I saying this to undercut stylist in anyway. But it’s not as hard as most make it out to be. The hardest part is standing on your feet all day and always trying to make everybody happy. But there’s one thing I’ve always found in creating beauty or making others feel beautiful. It’s the way you talk and you present yourself.Your voice is calm and the way you describe what you’re doing it’s so simple yeah you worn your audience to be cautious making mistakes. I think you did a great job! If anybody has anything awful to say about your channel, or your styles, most likely it’s because they like you. 😉

Hey! I cut my own hair, too by studying videos on youtube, like this one. Simplifying a cut makes it easier for people like me. Also, I get to see how razoring the hair works. I used your technique and it turned out GREAT! Thank you SO much! The only thing I needed was a tiny bit of help on the back just to make sure there were not crazy pieces. Like you said, the tight ponytails are key! My hair is thick and curly (intense wavy blend) and I did the ponytails just like you and cut the hair while dry. Then I just used the shears to layer it from the back to front on the sides into an a-line. I couldn't be happier! Thank you! :)

Honestly this pony tail method is pretty full proof, as long as you’re doing it on dry, straighten hair that’s all the way brushed through. And as long as you don’t mind a more blunt look. For me personally, I hate layers, and like my hair all one length, so this technique is perfect for an at home haircut. I always feel I over pay when I get my hair professionally cut, because essentially this is the same thing they do, with the same end result

Looks good! I used to cut my hair all the time and used a lot of these techniques but I started going to a salon for a long time but it’s hard to get them to cut it the exact way you want them to. Due to physical reasons I am unable to go to the salon very often and I just got a razor cutter so I am excited to start cutting my hair again. Also, I know people make fun of them but I just ordered one of the generic, copies of those Crea Clips to make it easier to cut the back of my hair rather than using a pony tail. It is also nice that I have a mirrored cabinet in my bathroom that allows me to look at the back of hair easier.

@@themainescratcher476 honey! It's not hard... It just requires your whole concentration... And I tried it on my hair because I've cut other's hair before So I would recommend if you wanna try this, try cutting other's hair for a little practice And when you start cutting your hair don't snap right at the top (it has 100% chances that you'll mess up).. start with trimming your hair slowly and then reach till the top and do just as she has guided And even then if you mess up and are not happy with your results... Don't worry... Oil your hair every now and then (twice a week or so) and your hair would grow rapidly. Good luck!! ☺️☺️☺️

Thank you so much for this easy to do cut. You look fabulous! I am fed up of giving hairdressers perfectly clear photos of what I want and being disappointed with the results and lighter in the pocket! I trust myself more than hairdressers. I'll let them colour my hair though.

I don't see anyone throwing shade at you girl. This video is awesome and your hair looks great! I just recently started DIY cutting my own hair about 4-5 months ago. As a homeowner with a little fixer upper house in an expensive area, it's not easy to prioritize salon trips so my hair looked like a hot mess all the time. I got some good hair shears and Googled how to do DIY trims. I had longer hair so that's harder to mess up and figured I'd paid so much attention to how pros cut my hair that I could probably do a decent job myself. Those turned out well and my friend who's a former pro stylist said I did a good job. I got more confident with it so when I did my last cut a month ago I finally went shorter at about shoulder length where you cut yours. It's growing out a bit floppy (picture like floppy cocker spaniel ears when they need a groomer trip) because I have wavy hair so I was looking for some good DIY tutorials to improve my own haircuts. This one is absolutely perfect and gave me some really helpful tips. I now feel brave enough to try using a razor too and I'm thinking that will help with the floppiness. Thanks again for the great video!

Sharee, thank you so much for this tutorial! Another success story here, thanks to you! I didn’t have any thinning shears, so I just point cut to blend and add some texture to the ends, and it turned out great! My hair has a bit of a wavy texture, so I straightened it before cutting, and that also helped. I’ve paid lots of money for haircuts in the past, and don’t think I’ll need to do that again- thank you for helping me find the confidence to make the big chop! I feel so much lighter losing @ 9 inches of hair! Thank you again! You’re wonderful!

Helpful video. Weekly maintaining a clean cut, short hairstyle is pretty easy when using a hair clipper, but 10 years later and I'm letting my hair grow out again. So it's time for me to learn some long hair cutting techniques.

Coronavirus can’t keep my hair down. I’m officially my families hair stylist. Thanks for the video! I was stunned at how beautiful it turned out! Doing this as soon as my thinning shears comes in or which would you prefer maybe hair cutter comb? Does it really matter or make a difference which one I use to shape it?

So easy to! Now all I need is a razor for hair. I have great shears but am still lacking some tools. Amazon here I come, lol. I do skin. I can give you a glowing complexion at any age but I have never been able to do my own hair. Girl. You rocked this. This one video had me looking at more of your work and others. I just killed my buds. I have to say I think you have to have the perfect face. Everything you do is pro quality work and you can sell it. You have a great look and that sells soap. It puts the hair out the door and onto the street where it can be seen. I've got a three year timeline in my regrowth I have been holding onto until I can get strand tested. It's time, but now I'm ashamed to be seen in a salon. You have given me the confidence to take it on and handle my business. Thank you. I love your work.

This made me smile so much! I love the a line bob but I can't ever find someone I trust to do it. I'm a hairstylist too and I've only cut my own hair once. It turned out okay (long layer) but I was using the French method and hated the process. It was so physically uncomfortable and took forever! But this I think I'm ready to try. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

Olivia Foley you're not working At the right salon then! You can Follow a guide all day for certain cuts but it's about tailoring the cut to that persons unique hair and shape Of there head. Find you a salon with other great stylists and with great education! Changed my life and career! I love teaching my clients tips for at home. My cuts are not 20 Dollars but there not 100 either, but ALL of my clients love the fact that I don't pretend to know everything! We are constantly learning! This girl should become a stylist because her common sense on angles and adding volume is better then some stylists that have been doing it forever. It's about CARING first and foremost. And remember ladies it's all about the angles you lift the hair off the scalp that achieves different layers and looks!

I never heard of so many people complaining about not only inexperienced stylist can’t cut but color coming out really bad... all this bonding shit now they stick in with the color has me wonder .. since a stylist added in bonding shit my color is never right !!! I recommend everyone watch you tune and do your own hair .. stylist suck ass
