Do you need to have the notary send you the docs? Can you have the notary mail them directly to the state?

You can. I typically get them back -but yes notary can mail them off to the state. I am too much control LOL.

I'm trying to follow your process on mailing the docs to your client and getting them back from them (plus all the other required documentation) - why is a notary, not the client, sending you all the docs back? Wouldn't you send all the docs to your client with instructions on where to sign, what needs to be notarized, and what docs need to be compiled, and also let them know that the affirmation form needs to be notarized with a notary of their choice? Why would a notary be tasked with getting all the docs together to send back to you or directly to the state (seems outside their service - unless this is something notaries do)? I would think that the client would just need a notary to notarize the affirmation form, and that signing the rest of the forms and compiling all the documentation to mail is the responsibility of the client.

Nancy many clients will respond & do it on their own. Many times when people have unclaimed money they are not really sure & motivated. If we do the work for them they tend to move quicker. Up to you, I have many that do it on their own.

@@davidchurch6133 What do you mean by doing the work for them? I've read through all the California filing instructions and they always have to provide a copy of their drivers license, ssn, deceased owners death certificates, trust docs etc. I would love to be able to do this work for the clients so that they don't have to but it seems that they are the only ones who can for these items. How would a notary or someone else be involved in the rest of the documents gathering? I love you channel and vids btw! Thank you.

@@NancyDaCostaTV the form has to be notarized. I have the notary send me back the original and then I put the rest of the documents in there. In regards to hiring a notary - I personally send a notary to them, which adds up financially. One of my students pins their nearest UPS and has them sign there as she sets it all up. This student is killing it in deals. So at the end of the day it is finding a system that is right for you.

Would this work cross-border as well? I got to send documents from Canada to the US (NS to DC), and I'm asking specifically as it relates to the surcharges that may be included considering the distance and custom controls, etc. Also, is the shipping label still fine to use after the specified date? Thank you

I have people all over including Canada and Australia. Yes it would work.
