How would you apply a pony wall 4 feet in height except for the first foot in length that is floor to ceiling?
@EstimateMastery3 жыл бұрын
Hey Derek! I would recommend creating a small room where the wall goes from the floor to the ceiling, then create a room next to it with the pony wall. Then combine the rooms.

How do you do a loft opening that has the same ceiling as the room below . like a wall that is 4 ft but has a base height of 8 ft that is only 4 ft high. Like a stair to an open hallway that you can look down to the great room. I hope you get what I'm trying to say!! like a wall that come out of a wall but in the middle not going to the floor or ceiling. Good luck understanding this...lol

Thank you for the video. I'm working on a claim where a vehicle ran into a wall. I'd like to reframe just a portion of the wall. Is that possible in xactimate online?

I am trying to sketch a basement with a half concrete half framed wall on the stair wall. So basically 3 sides are 8'ft high concrete and the stair wall is 4'10" foundation with the other half being framed.
@EstimateMastery6 жыл бұрын
I would Sketch it as a normal wall and hand calculate the materials and enter them into the calc field. I am more about what saves time and achieves the same result, rather than spending hours on Sketch. I know that may not answer your specific question, but that's the way I would go about it.

I know that Xactware likes to keep us from being able to change variables as we please without going through what you just outlined. At first I started to watch the video and thought "well, silly thing to do, I'll just change the HH (height) of the wall extension". Yeah, not. These are locked down hard. Maybe someday they will change this. Nice video. I do biweekly webinars for my group of adjusters to get them hot on every tip and trick I can come up with and ones like this too. Thanks for the great videos.

Haha - thanks for the kudos Michael....Xactware really makes you go through the ringer when you come up against anything custom in a home, it seems. I'll keep the good tips coming so you may share some with your group ;)

Hello, Thank you for sharing this video it was helpful. Would you be able to tell me how you'd create a pony wall if a room only had 3 full walls, not 4 full walls and 1 pony wall? Basically, the entrance to a kitchen with a pony wall.

When I need to make a half wall I usually just draw out a full wall with the wall tool then switch to elevation view or 3D view and draw in the part I want deducted with the missing wall tool. Is this the wrong way to go about it? Seems like the amount of steps are about the same, but does this mess up the measurement calculations?
@EstimateMastery7 жыл бұрын
If you can get your XM8 to play nice and allow you to add the half wall in 3d, I'd say go for it! My 3d acts really funny and won't allow me to pull the missing wall up into the upper portion of the wall and I end up having to go into the properties anyhow. Good point though, Kyle!

At the end of the video, there is a missing area which matches the width of the new low-wall & goes to the ceiling. We have to account for that, don't we? Do we have to sketch in another section to match the missing area? And BTW, thanks for the tip on how to draw a low-wall. Gawd forbid that we run into many of these because that is such a convoluted way yo draw in this minor, minor bit of wall. Let's add the ability to just enter the 'z' dimension to a wish-list for 'X2'. They could've made this a 1-step, easy procedure, but no....
