Amazing little bonus. I love the DX, just seems to get more and more useful for me

The DX is such a good teaching tool for FM. Good video 👍

It's really impressive what this keyboard can do at such a relatively low price point. I've got one on the way and have been researching all the tricks people have figured out and this is super helpful thanks :)

Congrats on your new keyboard! This one really hits a sweet spot between complexity and accessibility.

@@mr_floydst thanks I'm really excited! I have a yamaha pss 480 which is a 2 op and has some surprisingly involved editing functionality so I have a basic understanding of fm synthesis. Fun machine to mess with if you have a chance!

PSS 480 was my first ever MIDI keyboard! Used it with my Atari ST. Got some nice brass sounds out of it by randomly pushing buttons (I was a kid) :)

I think the Reface series are among the most underappreciated synths out there. People think they're toys. They're not.

Reface DX secret power is that every operator can feed back into itself. You don't need to waste operators only to get square waves / saw waves.

Damn that trick with the keyboard scaling is awesome! Bass+Pads or Pads+Lead are definitely some things I will try building with this

Thanks for watching! A lot of synths have this feature, it's worth investigating :)

@@mr_floydst I recently got the Reface DX as my first synth ever and I'm loving it so far :) For the split keyboard trick I'm feeling the size of the keyboard is a little constraining, but I think with a bigger midi controller this would be absolutely awesome

I just gave you like #122 and I also just subscribed. I just ordered the DX from Amazon and should be receiving it tomorrow. I have zero experience with synthesizers but want to learn. I chose the DX because it can store sounds and I really wanted a portable machine. I especially want to crank out those 80's synth sounds found in pop music from that era. I am looking forward to learning and HAVING FUN !!! Thanks for making this video

Thank for posting but goes too fast for newbies to synths. Wonder why not start with “Dark Bass” and then just deal with the pad part or whatever? Or vice versa? If there’s a good reason, I don’t know it.
@mr_floydst2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! In order to pull this off, you _have_ to begin from scratch, you can't use an existing sound. May I suggest using the pause function / reducing the speed of this video? Cause I mention every key press needed, so it should be possible to follow step by step.

Hey bro, i would have some questions to ask because i want to buy this little things. I actually have a Yamaha DX11 and i use some custom sounds. I was wondering if i can have exactly same sounds in the reface dx, i dont know if you can answer my question but i would love to know
@mr_floydst Жыл бұрын
As with most synths, you will be able to create sounds that are very similar, but not 100% the same. The Reface DX can play only one sound at a time, though, while the DX11 is multitimbral (can play multiple sounds at once). This video here shows a trick to navigate around this, but it's not a good solution compared to actual multitimbrality.
@BakiPrOfficial Жыл бұрын
@@mr_floydst one sound at time you mean simple waves or multi key ?
@mr_floydst Жыл бұрын
The DX11 can play, for example, strings and a flute simultaneously, while the Reface DX can only play the strings. Both of them can play 8 notes at a time.

@@mr_floydst Yeah I just want the single sounds but I dont know if its the same algorithm and if the sound will be the same as the dx11

I made a track with the split and the looper and was able to fade parts in and out with the levels. Also will try with the 4 individual op algorithm.
