The stuff in the beginning looks like what the Tomb Raider editor was capable of more than 20 years ago. I miss games that come with their own level editor.

Thank you so much for this. I'm just starting out with Unreal Engine, and I wanted to make a reproduction of classic Doom's E1M1 map. But once I got into the Unreal Engine Editor, I realized it was not going to be as easy as I thought. This geometry tool demonstrated in this video is EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you so much.

Could you do a video on adding material to this as well? I'm curious on your approach. My first thoughts were along the lines of creating a layered material and painting it.

I've been wondering about this as well. Being able to use a bunch of materials to paint onto block meshes would be amazing for prototyping.

That's a great idea! This week-end I was searching exactly how to do it and found out a solution :) When in modeling mode, you can go to the "attributes" category and select the "MatEd" tool. Once it's enabled, you just have to select faces and assign a new material to them ;)

I was looking for something like that recently. I found paid addon for blender. It is grid modeller. Now only thing left is "first person view" version of this type of modeling. Basically Minecraft with little blocks mod or chisel mod with additional ability to "fillet" and "chamfer" edges. Probably esiest way it would be to make modification for minetest and add option to export modles as 3d objects

I think you can use the tool for selecting specific faces, then use the material one for applying specific material to these faces :)

is it possible to modify the static mesh actor with the cube grid tool after it's been completed?

Yes, it's totally possible :) You just have to select the mesh while in modeling mode and you're good to go.

@@evansbohl there is none .actualy there are some settings to do in the unreal engine settings :)) ...i found out actualy ..i got bigger problems than that :))) ...i get fail on exporting project

Thanks a lot Rhamadez! If you want to use it as a blockout tool, yes it's the right way since it's fast and straightforward :) But if you want to use it in a final game, I think you should at least check if the triangles of the mesh are well defined and not having weird shape. If so, then you can edit the triangles with the other geometry tools and you will be able to use them in production :D
