For that many posts a chain Mortiser or porter cable door mortiser would be a better investment

Hi im making a four board fence for my home and have a few questions? Your mortise template is a great idea, what are the spacing between the hole? Or if I am doing a five foot fence, how should i space them out? I love the router idea. What do you believe is a good but inexpensive one to do the job on a 4×4 or 6×6 fence post?
