2:31-2:34 helped me understand how to use the front and back pieces to draw the collar pattern piece, thank you!

How do you know how much to overlap? This video was very helpful!!

Thank you for your comments. The amount to overlap is a standard measurement of 2cm in full scale. This will allow the collar to sit flat against the body, rather than sticking straight out from the neckline. I hope that helps :)

Great video! Thanks :-) Question: I see sometimes the collar's neckline is moved down slightly in the center front, about 1 cm in full size. Have you any idea why? Also, do you think it would work to distribute the shoulder overlap throughout the collar?

Thanks for watching 😊 Moving the neckline down slightly will better position the collar. It depends on which block you draft as to whether you need to do this. When you overlap at the shoulders this encourages the collar to sit down on the body and not stick straight out. If you distribute this throughout the collar you may find that the collar starts to rise up slightly like a shirt collar does. Experimentation is best - try your ideas out and see what happens.

Great tutorial but where is the shoulder seam allowances figured in. You matched up the seams right to the edge. Just trying to understand how to do this before I cut.

Thank you for finding me! 😊 - the collar fits from centre front to centre back without a gap at the shoulder so there’s no need to allow for the shoulder seam. The main garment pieces with have a seam allowance at the shoulders but once they are joined the pieces are match exactly at the edges just like I show with the pattern pieces.

In full scale??? Is this not to scale? I’m drafting for my granddaughter’s dress.

I’m using a half scale adult sized bodice block in the videos 😊
