The nice thing about this effect is, you can just copy and paste on to any line of text you'd like. If it's a longer line of text, stretch out the highlighter using the transform tool. This is really fantastic, thanks. Ran into a really weird issue after making the compound clip. Everything looks fine when I preview it. But then after I add Ken Burns the highlighter wipes go in the opposite direction from the way they were set up and flicker a bit. I've played around with it a bit, but nothing seems to fix this. Don't quite understand why one would affect the other in any way. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Great video. But, why when I drag the feather slider to the left, does the highlight feather from the top down rather than from the ends?

I believe it does both. But you can adjust that with the height and width I think. I’m not sure exactly since I don’t have FCP in front of me at the moment.

Hmmm great question 🤔 I'm not sure! If you aren't able to find one, you can create one and animate it in FCP or head to Motion and create one. Sorry I'm not of much help.

The feathering shouldn't affect anything under the highlight. It should just affect that highlight (generator) layer

You could mask it as well! I just found that crop and feather allows you to adjust the feather for the height and width of the sides individually and a shape/draw mask does not. Thanks so much Mehdi 🙏🏼

Sorry about that! You can you hit the gear icon in the bottom right and change the playback speed to be slower if need be. I've focused on making my tutorials slower since the making of this one.

Go to generators, and bring a custom generator over your clip. Change it to a highlighter color by clicking the inspector window in the top right and choosing the color, and use the transform tool in the bottom left to scale down the generator. I probably went a little too fast, but rewatch the section right before 34 seconds
