To me that is a fertilizer solution that you make and not a tea, you then tweak to a desired PPM, a tea is usually, at least in the circles I have learned from is a brew for microbiology and not nutrients. Growing out of pots presents challenges for organic growers that can be overcome. My super soil usual starts out a bit much for my plants but as they grow, they grow out of the excess. They get some boosters as time goes on, and more about the time for fruit fill. You just can't get enough nutrient in the soil when potting them up for the life of the plant. Be aware of the basement black bucket method of producing worm castings out of peat and worm food to keep the worms alive. These are not to be mixed up with casting produced from food waste, manures and other green inputs. Nichole Masters would add 'more carbon, more wood chips" for the worms for more fungi. She might also say a different kind of input for the worms for different crops. And the super soils I heard described before this had mega inputs, I like the idea of keeping it simple, at the same time most people can follow a recipe if they desire to go all out. I am unsure if a paramagnetic input would be helpful in potted plants. As far as biology is concerned in potted plants it might be best just to add every couple of weeks it is not a environment for microbiology to thrive. Also John Kempf gives out info that indicates the mycorrhiza fungi will not live in a soilless mix and I do think that was geared at peat and I'm unsure it's relationship coco coir. "Drive that photosynthesis engine" "Healthy Plants make Healthy Soil"

I brew 55 gallons of compost tea at a time. I bubble it for 24 hours. I have a pump and hose and just spray my garden with it once per week. I make a 5 gallon bucket at a time for my indoor garden but add liquid kelp to it. Edit to add: I love how everyone smiles a tiny bit when they call cannabis medicine!

I’ll mix new super soil after harvest and pile it on tarp and cover I’ll take IMOs from my woods and river behind my house and mix it I. With rest of my shrimp meal and DTE rose and flower mix and add it and let it cook all winter and I’ll use that same mix for my seedlings I just add 30% vermiculite to the 1 gallon I mix together for solo cups so roots grow easier. It’s never to hot and they really explode I go from solo cup to 2 gallons let em show the sex cull all males and make FPJ out them continue to let em almost root bound in 2 gallons then into 10-20 gallons fabric pots and I get flower by early September sometime with certain varieties mid September. I do this for a fast grow if weather is to humid and wet like it love to do in NJ in late summer early fall. In NJ the garden state we have amazing tap water where I live and I also have we’ll but the plants like the tap water left in 5 gallon bucket all day in sun will dechlorinate it and the plants love it

Can I just say that thing about grow space height. Knowing this why do manufactures still make bags tall AF and not wider and shorter. I put 4 in a 4x4 @and there's a ton of unusable space down there it annoys me everytime because even a 6 inch plant is like 20 inches tall maybe it's better for roots but anyway that's my rant lol Ha he did bring it up aswell. I didn't realise they sold shorter ones all the ones on amazon seem to be the same roughly

Awesome! Try a worm bin. Worms that are fed right make castings that are almost all you need for amending soil. Clackamas Coot is probably the best person to learn how to feed wish from that I've heard of. Worms that compost manures, organic waste, kelp, alfalfa, and rock dust minerals, make castings that are hard to beat. Malted barley and other seeds (malted means germinated, died and ground) are also awesome for worms and soil. Watch Clackamas, I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Interviews with him are always very educational, he's got a lot of experience growing all kinds of things.

Thank you Chris for your informative videos. This is the first time I’ve heard anyone mention using the aquarium water de chlorinator. It’s something I’ve been using for years in my outdoor organic grow in 100 gallon living soil pots. here in the sf Bay Area We have great water. Under 50 ppm but it does come in at 8+ph. I also run it through a carbon filter first. This may sound crazy but this is the first year in many (I’m 63 and have been growing since 82)that I haven’t used a ph pen and my plants are bigger and healthier than ever. I will start checking ph now that they have started flowering. Thank again

I haven’t owned a PH pen in over 10 years and my grows are much better then ever Organics you should not have to check any ph or ppm or ec the microbes will work that all out in 48 hours. Been growing for 20+ years was alway salt based synthetic nute 10 years ago I went totally organic and threw away all ph pens and up and down. Don’t use cal -mag from store I use shrimp meal early in veg and flower top dressed and water it in with epsom salt water and 24 hours later u see the difference. There’s more cal mag that available for plant after the microbes 🦠 work it

Make Lactic acid bacteria aka LABs the process is super easy many videos on KZbin and the cheese is eatable and the whey I water down 1-1 and soak my soil and omg the praying leaves 🍁 are crazy. Late alone labs and FPJ extract foliar feeding at 1:500 and spray at sundown so pores are open on bottom of leaves 🍁 and spray away I will see massive color and size difference in 24-48 hours they just scream health. Great podcast! Really usefull. thanks Chris for your work and effort to make us better growers! I grow autoflowers (11-12 weeks full cycle grow). No transplant. feed with water only from start to finish , no top dress, no teas, nothing apart from water (I just add bacterias-fungi, aloe and coconut water once a week). Final 5 gallon pot from the start. No run off. Autopot from week 4, before then I top water with capillary mats on the top of the soil (to avoid soil compactation and have an even and slow water distribution) . A super easy method is: supersoil mixed in the pot (not layers, full mixed), but the middle inner cubic liter (the size of the pot which you would use for the first two weeks before transplanting) of soil (where seed will grow for the first 15-20 days) is just the same supersoil but with no dry amendments (nutrients) in it. Doing so, you will end with perfect soil for seedling with no nutes and no risk of burning, the rest of the soil 'cooks' for two weeks with no waiting time (I keep it moisted) ..and is ready to go for your vegetative stage and explosive growth. This method + great autoflower genetics (the most important thing of all mentioned) = 150/200 g harvest for each plant in a 4x2 tent (2 plants). 300w light.

I saw a Dr. Autoflowee grow where he compared fabric and airpots. The 3 gallon (approximate) airpot crushed it. The Subcool method calls for the actual super soil mix to be half to 2 thirds of the soil with the base soil, like a Happy Frog or Promix that you used as the original base for the super soil, on top. When the plants become hardier, the roots start penetrating the higher nutrient soil.

With his comment on wider over taller pots... that will depend on photo period or auto... I find a touch taller then wider seems to work better... all because of root zone stress... now yes ultimately the tap root of any plant is only going to go down so deep... but photo period plants can take circulating in a pot.. better than an autoflower..

@casanove9
@casanove9 Жыл бұрын
sure it is.. be aware that CalMag products always contain some Nitrogen that will raise your Nitrogen levels in the supersoil, especially in flower when you not need all that Nitrogen. you can 'cut' your 400 ppm tap water with RO to get to 200ppm than add Espom Salt (organic) 120ppm (60ppm magnesium 60ppm sulfur) and depends on soil preparation (you can add Gypsum to your soil mix at the very beginning) also some Calcium Solfate (Gypsum) 60ppm (30ppm calcium 30ppm sulfate) . 380ppm final water. You will be perfect, never a CalMag deficiency and all organic. have fun Magnesium has to be 75ppm minimum always. LED lights strips magnesium from plants and coco will strip it to.

@Phil Jermakian At the moment, my plants are in week 9-10 in veg, I have 18/6 light and they are huge, but with no signs of flower, Im starting to think, maybe seller has messed up and gave me photos, I did witch light yeaterday to 12//12, will see what will happen. Autos what I have planted 4wweek ago, already are starting to flower :D Im confused. And thank you for reply!

@@technoroid you are correct to just treat it as a photo. Most people will tell you whether they use 12 on 12 off, 18 on 6 off, they usually end up with about the same results. DLI is what matters most.

I have a question on drying. I know you want 60/60. I can't get down that low with temp , in my room even with ac its only like 72 at best. If my RH is correct, will it be ok to dry in the mid to low 70's? How bad is it if not?

I also have to be reasonable with electric, I should not be running AC for 2 weeks straight. Way to much money. Especially now that they damn near doubled energy prices . Please help with my question. Thanks.

The reason you want a lower temperature is because it extends the drying time. The lower temperature means that less terpenes and volatile Esters will be lost during the drying and curing cycle. It is the reason some cannabis smells like hay or grass and taste like garbage. It was dried too quickly. Hence at a higher temperature to lower the drying time. Keep your humidity in check and 72° will be okay. Only remove the large fan leaves or water leaves and hang the plant whole upside down. The smaller fan and sugar leaves will fall down around the flowers to help keep them protected during drying. It should also extend your drying time for a day or two.

@@GardenTalkwithMrGrowIt Yes, I am trying to get a baseline thought of the mushroom bags at $30 plus for 10 days??? I better be getting a hellofa ROI and 90% of your audience is going to go - Uuhh really, NEXT topic. . . I am an old market gardener and have found when I make a mistake I can just treat them like a tomato screw up and lay them over, people from the 60's/70's remember when things were called WEED,( at least we forget apparently) then I bury them, and as long as I leave 1 leaf peaking at me I get really bushy plants. (check out some very old Cherokee Black or Purple Heirloom seeds from our East Coast still living people) I am sending the top 6 inches of soil from the 30 acres of old-growth forest behind me for analysis this week. How can it NOT be living soil? Going indoors now with a GroWealth g3000 (IR and UV switches) and have an indoor grow room for Autos now. On disability, SS, etc. and watch now every dime/day - more fascinating than tomatoes(uh well duh) Spent a couple decades in a spirits craft distillery. Most people want the info of not 400 to 700 (old old news) - but what am I doing with the 3 to 400 and 7 and higher spectrum except spending money? Nevertheless, another month and I may be able to buy another light and will then know more. Capitalism has now beat us again. (never ever forget those 60,000 who died all around me) Vietnam is a better place now, thank you jesus ( coming from a "Hopeful Agnostic") - super soil was really good and free then. Especially if you give those cows a little rub in the right places, and here comes a little heifer across the room as we speak - gotta go now - but a 30-foot by 3 foot but only 70 inches high, Woofer available here. Oh oh no she saw this - gotta go, the weather helm is up to you now.

It's a gimmick. It kinda works, kinda doesn't. Technically it will probably increase yields slightly enough to pay for itself, but it's not going to yield anywhere near what actually CO2 enrichment yields. Instead of mushroom bags, try fermenting sugar water in a 5 gallon bucket, it produces a lot more CO2 for 2-3 weeks. It's basically just 10lbs of sugar mixed into water, with a champagne yeast, and an air lock. I would use it starting the 2nd week of flower to week 6. But the bad part is it smells like brewing beer, which is a little stinky.
@ronaldsmith2343
@ronaldsmith2343 2 жыл бұрын
eemeinc,@@TheUnholyPosoleLOL - I worked in the AB brewery for 17 years - free beer on breaks and before and after work and 2 cases a month on average to take home. Truly a no-brainer recipe and aging unlike any and all other brews, but haven't drank a beer since. (like a donut maker who doesn't want a donut) It actually costs more to make a Budweiser than a Michelob (German Hops) - Cost more to add a CO2 system/lights etc. than the ROI? or maybe not? As also a divemaster - don't even start with the cost - once past 4 atmospheres depth and whoopee

Haven't tried coco, i use peat moss or wood fines for a base...30% castings n chicken manure compost from Lowes...but few people talk about rice hulls...all i hear is perlite. Rice hulls make your soil fluffy and they break down into silica, great for da girls. 30% rice hulls n lava rocks n im loving Buildasoil Craft Blend for amendments. Also, I address the plants needs with top dresses...I top dress to start with n keep those feeder roots active so when ya go into flower you can add buildabloom n coconut water n she'll get it. Top dressing works for everything...I did the same casting; chicken manure; craft blend mix on my avocado tree n it totally took off this year!
