In Windows 10, I was able to drag the icon from file explorer's address bar to the desktop, but Windows 11 no longer has that feature. Any ideas on bringing that back?

Recently bought a new windows 11 laptop and have been trying to create desktop shortcuts for my usual apps, etc, but having difficulty, so was glad to find your video. But unfortunately this is not working for me. Are there some system settings I need to alter to enable me to do the methods that you illustrate? When attempting to drag from start menu to desktop, it lets me drag it but then jumps itself back to the start menu, with a little icon over it - small circle with diagonal line - as if to say "stop, not allowed!". Also, trying the other method - but unable to find the path. What am I doing wrong? 😟

I would like to put the 'regular' icons on the desktop but they won't move from the Windows icon 'pinned' list. For example, I have Notepad on the Pinned page. I try to drag it but it doesn't go to the desktop. Right click has no option to create the shortcut. Ideas?

I'm just trying to add the Xbox shortcut to my desktop and it doesn't want to let me add any "App's" not "Program's" to the Desktop as a shortcut, right clicking on an app doesn't even give you the option to view file location. Only clicking and dragging does, that was oddly stupid and frustrating no extra right click context menu's on app's.
