Thanks, you saved my time. So all this plugin does is add a button to the text editor to search the amazon database for the product you want to add to your blog post or page that gets tied to the affiliate account with the tracking id. Got it thanks

You must be going directly to wordpress' site? If you go to a regular hosting company like GoDaddy, Sitepoint or any company that is known for website hosting, all the plans have the full version of WordPress -- even the cheapest. I wouldn't go to WordPress directly to buy hosting.

I have different ones for different websites. Or if you are doing a special blog post or promo and want to track that one post/event then you could create one just for that. For example when I post a link from my FB page I have a tracking ID just for that page.

Because I don't create many IDs. I only have 3 sites I use Amazon on and one FB page. So I don't really have that many IDs. I don't personally create them for different blog posts or pages, but I was just giving you an idea for why you'd create different ones.

Great information Lisa ! Question- with the Amazon API and Secret Key my developer told me that it is ok if I use his info instead of having to use mine. I'd had trouble getting mine to work properly. I do use my own tracking ID though. Does this sound ok in your opinion ? Thanks !

I see you can 'add more' items by going to the page and grabbing the asin or product id and adding it to the group, but I don't want to do that for 50 or more items. If they click on the affiliate link on your blog but they end up buying something else , do you still get paid? Like if you link a large bottle of a cleanser or whatever of something but your visitor bought a smaller size from a different seller (still on amazon ), do you still make a commission on their purchase ?

OK - question. So I was under the impression that the links lasted forever. So, I started on a website thru bluehost/wordpress. Haven't launched it yet, getting a few blogs together, but of course, have been linking throughout the blogs. Haven't set up my 'shop' page yet but was going to sooner than later. Question is, how do you update the links when you have hundreds of them every day so they won't be useless to you in 24 hours?? Is this even doable? Especially starting out with ZERO traffic and having useless links that nobody has probably clicked on anyway. Seems kind of jacked up!

There are two wordpress versions - the free one at wordpress.com and wordpress.org. If you buy hosting (like I do), you get the wordpress.org version and you can do whatever you want because you own your own domain. The free version of WordPress does not allow you to profit from it. So you cannot use affiliate links if you have the free version. That's why I don't suggest going the free route.
