Great tutorial up to a point where I cannot connect to the public ip from "My IP". My browser suggests that "This site cannot be reached" and also that he site is not secure. I have tried to access it via Chrome and MS Edge. I am able to RDP to the site just fine.

So, I am trying to setup a Windows Cloud Storage server to use Perforce to storage and manage my Unreal Engine project. I have a team of 3 and I want them to be able to work on the project. Is this possible and what would that cost? Do you have any links or documentation?

Hi Kevin, thanks for stopping by. I'm guessing you're in game development, that's pretty cool. Firstly in regards to access for your team of 3 there are a few ways, 1. you can remote desktop to the cloud storage server, 2. you can enable them access to the ec2 server where they can manage the server except no console, 3. you can enable programmatic access where they will be given an access key id and secret access key and using the AWS CLI tools can manage the server via CLI. If you have the deployment setup as a client/server deployment, you can either create a client vpn connection to AWS cloud and then access the server, or if your team have static ip's you can open up the 'firewall' rules to allow those ip's on certain ports. The ec2 server costs vary a little depending in which region you want to deploy your server into. there are also some options available where if you just want to pay hour by hour or you pay upfront i.e. 6 months, 1 year, 3 year etc where you can save some money. How does the Windows Server license work on the free tier? I've setup Windows Server VM's on my pc with Hyper V and used the 6 months trial. I'm very new to AWS so curious how the license works. Great video.

I have followed the same steps ,but while adding inbound rules made 80 port open to Source "Anywhere". Still cannot access the web application deployed on the AWS instance and even ping command gives request timed out . However status checks are passed and I can do RDP ,Only web server is not working .Any insights on this?

Every time I exit my windows sever it changes the IP Address and doesn't keep my software running in the background of the server. Any idea why? It's not like I'm terminating the Instance or shutting it down

Hi EpicIsDan, when you say exit your windows server what do you mean exactly ? If you shutdown the server it will retrieve a new IP unless you set a static public IP, but you will be charged for static public ip's

Nevertheless, I have a bot that requires chrome to be running, but chrome only seems to render Web pages once I'm connected to the server. Any ideas how to get around this?

I have an Imacro script that loads Web pages and clicks certain buttons, but chrome seems to load a static white page and stop the script after 7 minutes or so. Maybe to save ram? I can't find any way around it.

Hmmm, not sure. Is windows logging you out or after logging in Chrome is still there ? Maybe create a task schedule ?

Hello, This user data is not working for windows 2019 instances. The variables ($localipv4,$publicipv4 etc) is null when we go to IP address from web. Only a static page is shown with texts ('IP Adress is'). But the IP address is not printed. Can you please correct the data for windows 2019 (free tier) instance and upload in GitHub

Hi Tast, no reason as long as it's on the free-tier as I was only using it for this demo and deleted it straight after. You can do the same with Windows 2019.

Ok cool well if localhost is working you're half way there. I think the issue might be with the firewall. If you're trying this from home and your IP keeps changing then you need to update the firewall rule again. Look at 10:16 make sure 'My IP' displays your external IP from home. You can check this by visiting whatismyip.com
