Hi Amolhere, thanks for your comment, I don't think you can uninstall a single patch from esxi, but you can perform a rollback after patching, is this what you mean ?

@@sysadmintutorials Yes David, what would be the rollback steps, when an EXSI patching fails (apart from restoring it from snapshot)
@sysadmintutorials
@sysadmintutorials 2 күн бұрын
In that case you would need to be on the console of esxi host, make sure it's in maintenance mode and reboot it. During the reboot at the first splash screen you press shift + r, you'll then be prompted to perform the rollback. There's a KB article that walks through the steps here -> knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/316592/reverting-to-a-previous-version-of-esxi.html

Hi Alex, the licensing depends on how many vm's you need backed up and what features you need i.e. just backup or you also require CDP for DR. If you go here and fill in your requirements they'll be able to provide a quote -> www.vinchin.com/how-to-buy.html What ever the quote comes back as, you'll get 50% off that for 3 months

But who is covering our license fees?
@sysadmintutorials
@sysadmintutorials 4 ай бұрын
From what I know, the license changes favors the big players, because the new vcf suite includes almost everything. As opposed to before they had to pay extra for additional products based on a tiering system and points per vram. For this top tier they could actually see a reduction in price. I have seen a few articles floating around about court cases within the EU against Broadcom due to these license changes, so will be interesting to see what comes of that.

May I ask something, but if you enter 127.0.0.1 for DNS then you no longer have internet including the server why 127.0.0.1 is used
@sysadmintutorials
@sysadmintutorials 8 ай бұрын
Hi, 127.0.0.1 just means localhost, so refer to itself for dns. It's the same as entering the IP address used on the host. It then talks to the DNS server and either uses the forwarders (if you have them setup) or uses the root hint servers that are there by default.

you would connect to it from another system. One example would be you have a windows vm running with RDP enabled, then from a laptop you would rdp to the vm. To be honest I wouldn't use this setup for gaming unless it's basic games. Complex video edit that you mentioned originally also requires some hefty ram and gpu.

You can download a log bundle from vcenter, if you login to the vcenter management interface (<your vcenter ip>:5480) and select actions, create support bundle. Once the bundle has downloaded to your computer, unzip it with something like 7-zip and you'll have the logs there. Alternatively you can use WinSCP and connect to your vcenter IP, then browse to /storage/log and download the log files you need
