I really enjoyed following your process, though the digital I don't think that I could get my head around that part. Your final painting with the 'atmosphere' is so reminiscent of E. Church's 'Yosemite' to me. Your explanations throughout are priceless - you definitely haven't lost your teaching skills. Love it!

You are a natural teacher. Sometimes I swear I do art because I suck at verbal communication, but you can communicate great with both. Yesterday I was watching some of your past plein air painting videos and i woke up early this morning and did photography of the sun rising at the beach, shining through the waves, with the mountains fading into the sea mist up the coastline, but the photos didn't do it justice. I could totally try out your new method!

Thanks for this amazing video, super inspiring! And as a mainly digital painter (I also paint with gouache) I find it funny that you are calling it just a “design” :D That’s a full-fledged digital painting! I would proudly put that in my portfolio and brag about it for a long time if I painted that! Your set of skills and knowledge translates greatly in the digital medium too, and it’s great to see you including it in your creative process. Hopefully this kind of videos will show some people, who think that it’s the PC doing all the hard work with digital painting, that it’s not the case at all.

Do you have any advice for going back to work on old paintings? I've been wanting to go back and finish some paintings from college that are 5-6 years old. They're totally dry and have never been varnished. They probably need to be cleaned (I've seen you talk about that in the varnishing video), but beyond that, are there any necessary steps before going back and restarting on an old painting, or is just as simple as putting paint to canvas again? Thanks for all your great videos, you've really inspired me to get back to painting over the past year.

I subscribed because you are an amazing person, amazing talent, amazing vault of knowledge. That said and as lovely as the end product is in compilation form I can not any longer call it a painting myself. I would much prefer the artists brush in oils where the magic flows through their hand to canvas or board. If I could afford anything Andrew it would be all Andrew and no electronic involvement. Love it yes, but I prefer the artists sweat and soul all natural as the old masters worked. Thank you for sharing!

Of course Mike, I appreciate your position mate. Have you ever tried digital painting? Something I often think about is whether Caravaggio or Vermeer would have tried it or embraced it...They used the Camera Obscura and Camera Lucida, respectively... perhaps they would have jumped in. I waited many years before giving it a go. I must say I am hooked, but I will never give up painting! That's my first love. Please stick around mate. I'd hate to loose you over my use of the digital medium. Many more painting videos on the way!
@mikemaxwell803

@@AndrewTischlerArt First and foremost once Andrew Tischler's work has filled one's eyes he would never be given up over such things. There is a place for this digital medium and where it must stay, second place. Unlike yourself whom we know is blessed with talent, hard work and study in the discipline allowing you to paint like the old celebrated masters, it is not so with all today, many but not all. We can never allow one's mastery of the digital medium reflect they are a better talent than they are without such equipment. I have no idea if it is always detectable if we are not told it is a product of electronics. I also understand the Lucida and do not think it's use did anything more than save time, it didn't enhance the level of artistic capability of someone as digital looks to be capable . I can't take anymore of your time, it is the one thing all artists were never given enough of and so finite for all. Keep up the great works. I did not mean to subtract from your work if taken that way. Who slanders the mountain top, not I.
