Hi, do you know any way achieve the kind of effect you showed in the video but in real-time? Like for example if I wanted to have a live podcast I'd like any kind of a wavesound whenever I speak, is there any way of doing that? If not with after effects maybe you could recommend me any program that could make that possible?

I was literally just watching the Reactive Wave video from last year and made a cool video but then immediately wondered how to do this with an avatar... it was like you read my mind because the same day you dropped this and I'm already making a bunch! There's a few things that I struggled with. 1. if I change the size of the picture after adding it to the composition and then copy paste the ellipse mask from that image to the second solid layer, it will match the original picture size (which in my case was much larger). 2. If I copy paste the transform with the mask from the image to the second solid layer then the transform will be applied to the solid layer as well (changing the size of the solid layer). 3. If I add the song to the compositions before the audio spectrum is added to the second solid layer then I do not have the audio track as an option for the audio layer. This tutorial works best if you do not change the image size and add to the composition in the exact same steps as you show. But I finally got it working.

I think it's because the original image is bigger than the project and when you reduce the scale of the image and copy that mask, it will paste the original scale of the image in the other solid layer. I try with a smaller image and it works. I hope you understand me, I speak English a little.

Hey Justin, Kickass tutorial. Definitely helpful for my podcast. Would it work if I add two audios and two images along with two audiograms and do the exact same process for both of them. The audio tracks I have are already edited for a podcast, so one is silent when other co-host is speaking. I just want the two images to have an effect of conversation.

Hi! This tutorial is great! However, I am having trouble when copying my Mask 1 from my photo onto the 2nd solid layer (Timecode: 2:40). When performing this, my second Mask 1 is bigger in size than the original. I have a Windows computer so I used the ctrl+c command. Is there something that I am doing wrong? Thank you!

My biggest issue is the fact that copying the mask doesn't seem to work! Whenever I copy the mask from my image to the Second Black Solid layer the size is completely wrong! When I investigate the "Mask Path" it shows the same distance left, right, etc. everyhwere.

Does this effect only work for 30 total seconds? I wanted to do it to something for closer to 1 hour but every time I export this, even trying to manipulate the end time, i still only get the animation to work for the first 30 seconds.
