Non-dominant hand tips: 1) brace your hands, support them so you can focus on controlling movement instead of holding them up. 2) Use your dominant hand to move - like, when doing a French tip, hold brush still and roll your finger instead. 3) Try doing things in your daily life with your non-dominant hand - specifically, brushing your teeth and hair, using utensils with food, even doing coloring pages, etc. - to work on your motor skills.

if you calculate it, it's totally makes sense to take double the time to do your own nail because while one hand is in the lamp, you can't work on the other unlike at the salon where the tech can work on both hands. It always takes me 4+ hours xD, but yes it's very therapeutic

I am a nail technician for 30 years. I use water based color for airbrush. You can use water and dish soap to clean the airbrush and to get it off your fingers and it doesn’t smell. I use a matt gel top coat before airbrushing and of course a gel top coat to seal it

Just another bit of advice, when doing your own nails, start with your dominant hand. It is sooo much easier to apply nails on your dominant hand when your non-dominant hand doesn’t have nails on. In other words, your non-dominant hand is already at a disadvantage, so why make it even that much harder to do your own nails. Hope this is helpful.

I used to take really long to do my nails, but I found that splitting tasks over a couple days really helps me to not feel like I have to take off a whole day. For example: I wrote down what sizes of tips work for my hands so now I can prep the tips days before applying them (like roughing them up on the inside. I also usually take off my nails the evening before I apply the new ones. That also really helps to split the time I have to spend over a bigger time frame. All that might not actually take off any time I have to spend, but it still makes it all feel less daunting and tedious. Hope this helps someone

I saw one video where they used a makeup brush and eyeshadow to create the aura... I haven't tried this method yet, but it seems to be very easy and valid (since it doesn't require anything expensive such as an airbrush)

Tip: There is 'blooming gel' that essentially is a clear gel which makes this so much easier. You put the blooming gel on and then the colour you want to bloom. It has such a consistent fade and it's more controllable and less wasteful than the airbrush. Hope it helps

It takes me forever too. I start like at 7pm but don’t finish til 1 am so I have been splitting it into 2 days. Day 1 removal and cuticles. Day 2 light prep, attach new nails and nail art.

The advice she gives about her non dom hand is true - it takes many times of doing your non dominate hand to become comfortable with doing nails on that hand. I've been doing my nails for many yrs also and I still mess up sometimes.

Hey, what might help you putting the nails on with your non dominant if you use the method you are using is a nail lamp with a long neck so you can flash cure and hold it under without limited space to hold your nail under the UV light
