Awesome! The mounting locations are a big help. My footage was average - mount was rattling - I had a cheap mount and riffed it on my passenger seat head rest and I didn't like the footage. I left my suction cup and second camera behind so I had a bunch of boring footage. Liked and subbed.

Great video! Question, when you’re filming on the hood of your car, how were you able to film in different positions on your hood as well with keeping the audio all together, making it look like you used more than one camera as well keeping up with the dialogue?
@chadsway88
@chadsway88 5 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Trieu Hey thanks for watching! Yes thanks the easiest way is to keep both the video and audio recording. Dont let them stop even for different angles and dialogue. Just plan ahead of time what you’re going to say and practice your angles. Even with 29 min record limit it’s totally possible with a planned shoot. Then in post you only have to sync one track versus a bunch of tracks for every separate scene.

Whats up, 1st off thanks for watching! I used the arm rest on the doors and some gaffers tape to mount a portable LED light. Little ghetto but it worked and i put one light right on the gauge cluster of the car. Granted I was driving very slow and in a very familiar area with not much traffic. @chadsway88
@chadsway88 6 жыл бұрын
Letia Solomon thanks for watching. For larger cameras you would need a more robust Hollywood style mount for a sony fs5. One with multiple suction cups etc I honestly never mounted such a large camera. One reason why i enjoy using bm, it weights under a pound and fits in your hands. My set up is under $100. So if 4k isnt a must try something similar

Armando De La Paz Thanks for watching. I use a H1 zoom recorder for separate audio. Keep both the camera and recorder going non stop at the same time. Easier to sink in post, I usually honk the horn once to find the sync easier. Try that out man, hope this video helps you to Keep creating!

How do you know which angle works best? For example with the front side passenger interior shot you had great flexibilty and could move the camera around. How do you know you have a good shot? It seems like it would be difficult to view from the actual camera because its up against the glass. Do you do some test shots or have a montior that you can watch the camera from?
@chadsway88
@chadsway88 6 жыл бұрын
Hayden Wright Thanks for watching Hayden. Yes I use an external monitor, via HDMI cable. Its the only way to adjust and view my shots. The camera itself does not even have its own monitor haha. A lot of practice runs, and knowing the focal points on your lenses very well helps too. The Intro shot was the hardest sync I not only had to position and focus, also speaking and driving but a few test and it came out pretty cool. Hope you get to try this out soon!

Good video, isn`t there a polarizing filter needed for the shots through a window?
@chadsway88
@chadsway88 6 жыл бұрын
Michar Hey Michar thanks for watching. In broad daylight conditions a polarizer does come in handy. Although for night shots I didn't feel the need since the sensor on the blackmagic is so small (super 16). I didn't want to lose any valuable light on the sensor. The glare of the lights gives it a nice effects and its doesnt seem too distracting compared to day light glare, with a dusty window etc. Be sure to have your windows super clean, cause it does help with the image, and over all value of the shot.

RecarroJames I haven't tried it with the dji osmo. But in theory it should as long as you have a compatible car mount for the osmo it should work well. In fact the sensor is a little larger(osmo) being a mft vs super 16mm(blackmagic). You'll get a little better low light and shallow depth of field.

@chadsway88
@chadsway88 6 жыл бұрын
Marcel Lim Hey Marcel, thanks for watching. To be honest I only tried it on the bm micro and pocket cam. I think it would work with a dslr(canon 6d for example) if it was positioned flat on a hood of a car. But as far as mounted on the side, like the window or door. I believe a dslr will be too heavy. A more heavy duty car mount with air tight suction cups and more brackets would work better, and much more safe for your precious camera gear. Hope that helped and good luck!

@chadsway88
@chadsway88 Жыл бұрын
What's up Hazzy Faris, If you're trying to get an outside shot of you in car car stand still, I'd use a tripod and maybe punch in post. If you want to be driving and rapping, that would take some serious mounting like the one in my video, or have a camera man in another car follow you with some good stabilization. Best of luck, and thanks for watching!

What about the triple one? Is the dual suction better for car shots?
@chadsway88
@chadsway88 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mario, I am using the dual suction cup. Its easeier to fit into interior shots. The triple one def works better for larger cameras that weigh more. Thanks for watching!

Do you use image stabalization after?
@chadsway88
@chadsway88 4 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching! For these shots i didn't have to use any post stabilization. The mount its self was pretty stable. As long as the mount can withstand the weight there won't be too much shaking. So the bigger the camera rig the stronger the mount you will need.

How do you get your audio to film if it is on the outside of the car
@chadsway88
@chadsway88 2 жыл бұрын
What’s up Fye Vibez, I was using a lapel mic attached to an H1 Zoom recorder. I record the mic’d audio separately (inside the car attached under my shirt) and sync it in post. Thanks for watching!

Would this work the same with just a GoPro?
@chadsway88
@chadsway88 5 жыл бұрын
Zephyr Media yes of course, in fact there are def more GoPro mounts available since the GoPro is so light in weight. You just won’t get as a cinematic look with the fish eye lens. But still try it out and get the feel of setting up different shots, thanks for watching!
