whenver i import my model into unity it complains about it having an invalid avatar rig configuration, required human bone "Hips" not found, when there is one. the mesh also apparently has invalid normals too. just asking to see if its an issue with the model or something else.

That's because you MUST NOT have a "hips" bone. Make sure your bone names match the ones shown in 2:25 exactly, and that there's no additional "in between" nodes. Sorry for the late reply, I have not checked this in a while.

I have a question. I have never once noticed fingers move in this game, why does making sure the fingers have the correct roll matter?

Phone and spraycan related animations depend on them (also for the dances).

Puedes hacer un esqueleto a mano usando blender, pero te va a costar porque luego tienes que hacer el rig. Yo he hecho alguno, y es bastante tedioso (no es difícil de aprender, pero igual tardas unas horas en que te quede bien).

yo jus wondering what happens if you just ditch the fingers entirely? would the game allow you to do that or do you HAVE to add fingers lol

Sorry for the late reply. It will still work, but the hands will look off (especially when dancing, using the phone and shaking the spray can)

"Before proceeding, make sure to call all of the bones exactly as the ones in the provided skeleton" Basically just make sure that your base skeleton structure matches the one in 2:25, without any extra bones in between (you can add additional bones parented to these later, but the main part of the skeleton needs to look like that); it's a bit redundant, but it's necessary to clarify it because even if you roll the finger bones, if there's extra parts in the skeleton between root and the hands, Unity won't detect them correctly and they won't work.

Hi,I'm running into a bit of a problem that I do not know how to solve since I don't have expertise in this kind of stuff. I'm trying to make work a couple of characters from GameBanana (Phos and Diamond (Houseki no Kuni)) that were originally conceived for SGiygas BRC Custom Characters, but now CrewBoom is used instead. The problem is that the data from that mod doesn't come with a CBB & JSOn of the characters so when I drag the files to CrewBoom i assume they don't load for that reason. Is there a way to get the characters to load ? Idk what to do, thanks in advance.

Your best bet here is to ask the original porter of the mod for the blender files and port them yourself. AFAIK, the files for the older mod don't work with Crewboom (and I doubt there's a way of making them work; the files are probably handled differently and have their data arranged to be read in a specific way that Crewboom probably doesn't support).

I know there's the discord for help, and I have been using it, but I can't seem to find a consistent answer on this: if the mode preview in unity doesn't show animations and none of the clickable buttons for the idle pose or walking pose don't do anything and then when ported over - they still don't have any animations, what is the most probably cause? I did have to set the root in Unity because for some reason it wasn't registering in Blender, and everything else ended up checking out, but those animations won't play. Could that be issue? Thank you for a great tutorial - really has been helping me understand this stuff better - just need this small fix.

It's probably an export issue. Make sure you are using the aRibeiro exporter with the settings provided, and that the skeleton has the exact bones renamed to what is shown in 2:30 (+ the hand bones shown in the bone rolling part if you want those animated too). Feel free to ping me in the Team Reptile discord and I'll hop on a call with you (my user is Petrikillos) if you need help doing this (or if what I suggested doesn't work; we can figure it out together in that case).

I'd like to add a spray to an existing brc mod that doesn't have a spray. I'm struggling however with importing the character from a cbb file into unity

Your best bet is to ask for the original mod creator for the FBX files and then do the entire unity step. Crewboom editor doesn't have an option to import from cbb files directly (which makes sense, because it could lead to people stealing released models and things like that).
