What I always get confused on is the size of the canvas. I use 8x10" canvas for the PNG and SVG. Even if the image I'm drawing isn't that size. Is there a default size we should work on for these digital files?

Thanks Juna, excellent explanation. I've been quite confused with sticker packs, SVG/pattern design bundles etc and what files types to offer to sell them in. Quick questions please: 1. With exporting the SVGs for sale in Affinity Designer, there are 4 types: SVG-flatten, SVG Digital -high quality or SVG For print- which do you use? 2. When creating SVGs for cutting are there any design tips to be taken into consideration to ensure the files are right for cutting? 3. Can you please do a simple tutorial in Affinity Designer on how to create sticker packs properly (to avoid them sticking together, what size file to be used, right way to export etc) to sell on RB and also on Etsy using a POD provider. Thank you 😊

1. I don't export SVGs I do PNGs sorry... I know SVGs are for cutting on Cricut and stuff but that's not something I do. 2. Again I don't do SVG downloads for that. 3. Yes... sticker packs are tough you will have to leave about a half inch between different designs if you don't want them to touch each other.

Love the videos and that you love to share your knowledge...it is greatly appreciated!! In this video you said to convert to curves... do you convert each line and then group together in Affinity designer or after you group? Is this similar to flatten? Is this also so people can't extract something out of a design you created? I am putting things together in PNG's for sublimation for family and friends right now and loving it!! Newer to Affinity designer(well any design software actually) but have learned a lot from you...hope this makes sense! Thank you for your time and knowledge!!

Yeah.... you want to convert your text to curves (making them an object) so that they are not a font anymore.... if you save a design as an eps it will try to use the font and if the other person doesn't have that font their text will look different.

PC: select files, right click, send to, compress (zipped) folder I currently run 7-zip file manager if someone needs the free download to zip And I'm old I do PNG in photoshop all in Amazon size. I have AI, hate the program but I can make SVG out of my PNG. So will a flat PNG to SVG allow for normal scaling of an SVG file to buyers? I'll google if you haven't a clue asking as others might be interested too.

Thanks for the PC side....That's a good question about the PNG to SVG... I've never done it that way.... I've always gone from SVG to PNG... Vector to Raster

Thanks Juna. Something I wanted to know - how to put together a digital download pack. I have many of my own images already from doing POD for several years. I have been following you for your T Shirt design videos which are outstanding and the "real thing". I thought doing T Shirts would be easy, but it is not. I can do and sell wedding invitations, mugs, cards etc. but only recently started T Shirts. I still need much improvement. Oh well, I always said "It's no fun, if it's not difficult". Thanks again.

Yes you can! What I would do is put your designs into groups of about 10 or so by topic and then follow what I did for my kawaii food. Save a big file as and AI and a PDF and a Affinity File... then I would separate the designs individually by PNGs.... put all those in a folder and zip them. Save the zipped file to Etsy or Shopify.

Why convert a png to dxf or ai? Isn't better to convert the SVG that's already a vector to those formats?

PNG and AI is for convenience...but yes most applications can open the SVG file just fine...... DXF is actually a total different kind of file that is needed for cutting... it's used in CAD systems.

What do you mean by resell?... If you are talking about buying digital downloads and then reselling them, then no,it is not legal..... make your own or generate original designs to sell as digital downloads.

Excellent video. You are the first person I have watched that actually explained why you need to convert to curves instead of just telling us to do it . However my ears started to bleed 🤣when you repeatedly kept mispronouncing the name of the die cutting machine Cricut. It is pronounced just like the bug "cricket". Have a great day!

@@DetourShirts No problem. By the way did you know that Cricut also uses SVGs PNGs and JPGs? If you upload PNGs and JPGs it will auto trace it for you to convert it to a useable file. I have 2 Cricuts and enjoy using it for a lot of things including heat transfer vinyl to make your own tshirts at home

Maybe.... but it's totally legal... may not be profitable if you choose the wrong ones though.... I do think if someone took the time to find really valuable ones it would be worth the $2-$3 to download them .... think of it as a finding fee or something.
