I would love a slower tutorial for those who are beginners, showing us in more detail instead of using shortcuts maybe? Another issue I found following the tutorial is when I parented the energy ball comp to the null layer containing the tracking data, the energy ball disappears completely. Another issue, if you have time to explain maybe a step by step, is on how to get rid of the glow within the rectangle shape, i assume its a mask but Im not skilled enough to know how to.

I would say just start with editing something simple and you should get back into it pretty soon. Maybe watch some tutorials and videos to get inspired and motivated.

Think you skipped a step with the light rays. The solid composite doesn't do anything cause the light rays still remain within the rectangle shape.
