There are so many things about Ceri's videos that I enjoy; his talent and willingness to share are marvelous, but one very important aspect of the videos that I think is especially important is his"if it works, it works, and if it doesn't, what have you lost?" attitude. If there was a school devoted, solely, to teaching the creative life, that should be the first lesson of the first class- being an artist \ crafts person \ creative means having a willingness to take risks to a certain degree. A curiosity, a willingness to try something without being so fixated on how it turns out. Years ago, I read a quote that said, " Even Picasso had to BECOME Picasso," and he did that by taking risk. I am not advocating taking truly dangerous risks, but do not let fears of things not turning out as you envisioned (the elusive, even mythical "perfect") to hold you back.

For the edges of faux stamps I saw someone using thinning shears (that hairdressers use) and I bought one myself and it works perfectly to get the tiny "pinked" edges around the faux stamps.

Keri these are BEE-utiful!! I use seed catalogs and magazines pictures for my faux stamps and plan to carve the squiggly lines this year. I have even further pictures off address labels to use. I use decorative kids scissors to get the edges. Even small stickers work. I love the trick to pull off the back of the washie tape. TFS 💞 Namesta ✌️🕉️🐞

I ordered several types of tearing rulers. I got a set like yours. I find that the thickness of the plastic makes it more difficult for me to tear my paper. I also found a metal one (I think Joy made it. I got it on Amazon). It was much easier for me. Then, I watched a few you tube videos in which the makers made their own. They used a cheap plastic ruler from the dollar store and a hot iron to burn little wedges into the edges of the rulers. Those are my favorite! I can get a more random edge and it’s so much easier for me to use. It did not hurt my iron at all. If you are interested, I could post a link for a few of the videos. Hi Katrine, when I first started I thought I had to have a tear ruler and I use it in my videos because many people have one but a lot of the time when I’m creating off camera I just use a metal ruler or no ruler at all. Thank you for the tip though it’s a good one.
