HOW TO CREATE & IMPLEMENT A HOME MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Heather! This is so me. I am a mom of two littles, working part-time, and trying to figure out how to make some home-management systems, because it is a STRUGGLE to keep up. I am so tired of always being behind on house-work, and feeling overwhelmed by all the STUFF. I would love to learn more about how you manage your time and tasks when you are constantly interrupted by kids, and how you get rid of things when your kids refuse to let go of their toys. As a super sentimental person myself, it is hard to purge things anyway. But the longer I am a mom the more I just want to get rid of everything! 😂

I think we all kind of go through that wanting to get rid of everything mentality, and you know what? That is totally OK! For a very long time I had few toys or extra things in our home. We didn't have the space for it, and honestly until my youngest came around, we just didn't have all the extra stuff. Now, as my kids have gotten older, we have a lot more stuff, and I am in a constant battle of decluttering, and more importantly de-owning which is the act of getting rid of stuff but then not allowing new stuff to come in in its place. I don't think it is bad to get rid of a bunch of stuff. And with the sentimental stuff, pack it away in a box and put it away to deal with later OR take pictures of it and then get rid of it. Things can always be replaced, so if it gives you peace of mind to ruthlessly get rid of things, do it! I did an updated review of my home management system a couple of weeks ago that I think will help you here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqeqqqWEqLxjq8k My advice is to figure out what are the 2-3 things you really need to get done daily to make you feel like you are staying on top of things. Is it a Living Room tidy in the evening? Is it vacuuming your floors every day? Is it making sure you don't have surface clutter? Is it making sure your laundry is put away? Is it an empty sink? Focus on those things first. If your kids are really little, give them a wet rag and have them wipe down the baseboards or windowsills while you work on a daily task. This was such a motivating video, especially since today was my house-cleaning day! I need a lot of help in this area…I enjoy a clutter-free and clean home but I’m naturally a pretty messy person. I’ll be implementing some of these tips, namely assigning tasks/chores for my kids on their weekly schedule sheet. Thanks Heather for another great video 😊

I'm glad it was motivating! It has taken me a really long time to figure this out - so I definitely wanted to share 😊 And yes, giving the kids tasks throughout the week (mostly from the PPP Home Planner lists) was very helpful to keep things on track!

Thanks for this video! I guess I never thought about what *I* need and just tried to implement someone else's plan and they never worked for me. I have to do some thinking to find out what my family actually wants and needs in regards to home keeping.

Each person has different priorities, wants, and needs within their home. Recognizing what is important to you can be challenging, but once you do it helps so much with creating something that works and, more importantly, you can maintain 😊
