This is a little insight into how I create Acid Lines and what plug-ins I use to really make that bass shine.

Wow, here's me thinking I've not seen that name in my feed in ages. Welcome back after 2 years hiatus!! I've got a tb3 and korg monologue which I love making acid baselines with.

Thank you. I have some good videos planned just slowly getting the hang of incorporating more of my hardware.

303 no midi for me. I feel like midi is cool but a lot of juice comes from clunking around with the buttons until the patterns let you know they are the ones.

I thought exactly the same thing until I had to make 101 acid lines for a sample pack and it almost killed me hahahahahaha. I had pages and pages of patterns written out. I did get faster at writing patterns on the machine but mine would always get a little funky when I would want to re-write a pattern and it would sound super different. At the end of the day I think however you write great patterns is best way.

The new Phoscyon 2 plugin emulation actually takes all the painstaking work out of it - it has an incredible sequencer and a random funcion which allows you to program in different modes and scales - three knobs to determine the amount of notes, slides, accents and it also has an amazing distortion and effects unit - I was so tired of trying to come up with good sequences in my DAW or on the basic native sequencer - the Phosyon 2 has me falling in love with the 303 all over again

I have the LuSH-101 and I love it. I'll have to check out the Phoscyon 2 plugin. It looks like the sequencers might be pretty simular.

@@hereasafanofallsorts5164 No worries at all. I'm lucky to have an original 101 but sometimes I don't want to faf around with CV and all that so the Lush is a good replacement.

Phoscyon actually sucks... on the surface it seems cool, but I can never finish a track with it... I always end up swaping it out for the ABL3... Phoscyon sounds so flat and lifeless.

I like to use the sequencer on the 303 it’s more fun and you can come up with some unexpected and unique lines

I agree with you there. I can do both with the MIDI mod I have installed. Not sure if my unit was just being angry with me but sometimes when I tried to change one note in the sequence it would change the pattern when I re-entered it. Now if I get pretty close I can just change the MIDI and I'm there.

Interesting. I noodle around on a Nubass and TD-3. Amit's TD-3 patch editor is excellent as you can randomise and edit absolutely anything. Mind you, sometimes too much control isn't a good thing!

Try Caustic 3. It has an in built 303, excellent clone. It also has the 808 and 909 drum kits bundled. Free to download. Very basic sequencer with 8 plug ins. Reminds me of Cubase. But the 303 clone is superb.

Cool vid! I am loving the Arturia TB-303 emulation "Acid V". Some may dispute whether it sounds as good as the hardware or as other VSTs, but it sounds great to me. Also, like other Arturia analog synth emulations, there are many useful enhancements, including additional modifiers for the bass sound, as well as the ability to save patterns and other settings into presets. I have several other synths that can generate credible 303-like sounds, but I couldn't resist the convenience of having the EXACT sound I was looking for in one VST.

To be super honest I have used a plug-in 303 in some of my tracks before I got my hands on the real hardware and it sounds great in the context of the song. The best piece of gear is the piece that inspires you to create. It doesn't have to be expensive to be good.

Hey nice video , does the sequencer of the 303 is from the computer ? Cuz i see no MIDI connection?
@craigwilliamsmusic
@craigwilliamsmusic 9 ай бұрын
My 303 has a MIDI mod installed. It's a TRS MIDI cable so thats why it might be a little hidden in the video.

Now wait a minute. You can't say "is this the greatest bass machine out there?" and then flippantly say "no" like "of course not silly" and then NOT say what you think is better. That's a tease that I fear you don't really have an answer to. Otherwise why not mention other bass machines that are better? Curious. Calling your bluff as if you are too cool to say this IS the best bass machine. Prove me wrong! I want you to!

Hahahahahaha well it does a few things really well but I don't think it has the legs to be a one stop shop.
