Anastasia, Thank you for the comments and great techniques taught in this video. I painted the picture and added a cowboy on a horse standing on the clearing looking over the hill at the sun. I also really appreciate your written comments. They make understanding so much better for the student. Don Sylvester Houston, Texas

I am totally awestruck!! I have most of the colors you used except for Aussie red gold, but I've been making my own mix from quinacridone gold and a touch of alizarine lake. Your tutorials have revolutionized my watercoloring. Thank you!

This is beautiful… I have to say though I actually LOVED its simplicity before you added the foreground. It was kind of semi abstract at that point and just lovely how the white space made those trees and mountains in the background just pop

I think after watching so many watercolor painting videos I have finally nailed why I have had a problem with them. I believe because it's more to impressionistic painting that that you would do with acrylics or oils. I do pretty good with acrylic or oils but could never get the hang of the watercolors. I think I can do them now. I think your paintings and watching you do them has explained them very well without saying a word. I understand all the balance of color, value and those concepts, I just couldn't get the use of the watercolors down. I want to thank you so much for your videos. They have helped me significantly. Thanks for being so generous and sharing. This painting is lovely. I would love to have that in my living room.

Your words make me very happy - thank you so much for them, I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Watercolours can be tricky indeed, especially when switching from oils and acrylics (I have painted in oils and acrylics too), as they are harder to control. I think once we let go of that control and understand that the white of the paper is our white "paint" in watercolour, it becomes easier and easier. I also kept being drawn to this medium because it intrigued me so I kept on trying to understand it more, and I got more and more drawn into it and now I do not paint in any other medium really :) Watercolour feels like magic! Thank you again for watching, and happy painting!

What kind of paper do you use, the way your paints move are awesome. Mine don't seem to do that the same way, as I try to follow some of your tutorials. I just love your stuff.

Thank you so much! I use Baohong 100% cotton cold press paper, it is so good. I buy it in blocks so it is already pre-stretched so it doesn’t buckle when I paint. Also, I prop the top part of my paper block when I paint - it helps the paint flow downwards…

Anastasia, are you using fresh paint from a tube or wet pan paint?
@AnastasiaMily
@AnastasiaMily 11 ай бұрын
I use wet pan paint most of the time, including in this video. The wells of my palette are slanted which gives me more control over the consistency of my paints. Watery paint collects at the base of the well and creamy paint sits at the top edge.
