Thanks for sharing all your hard work, 🙏 After 40+ years performing cover songs I've reached a point in life where I'm more into writing my own music 🎶 🎵 I'll give this software a shot and a link to my own channel 😎

Is it possible to import mp3 files in Hookpad? I know it's possible to export mp3, but didn't find any info on importing.
@WriteASong11 ай бұрын
As far as I know you can only import MIDI melodies.

Great introduction. There are a couple of things I haven’t figured out how to do, 1. Can you raise or lower the chords? That is, what if I want the chords to be played at C1 for example? 2. What if I want the melody on the left hand and the chords on the right hand? Is that possible? Is that controlled using the band functionality?

Thanks Craig. As far as I know there is no granular control for what you are suggesting. I think it would be a really useful feature! The way I would mimic this as best as possible would be to use the band feature for the chords. Use the octave slider next to your harmony instrument(s) to lower or raise the chords. With the melody you are able to go up and down octaves in the editor. You can also use the band octave slider in a similar way to the chords. With a bit of experimenting you should be able to get near to the sound you are after. I hope that helps!

Just want to say thank you to you, SE. The site/app is fantastic and has made my songwriting become much more efficient. The price tag for all of the features is well worth the tools you are given. Question: Is there or will there be eventually a downloadable app for your computer and/or your mobile phone as well? Being able to work in offline situations as well would make this app everything I ever needed and more.

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you've found Hookpad useful. It is great for getting ideas saved and/or inspiration. As far as I know there is no app that you can download. This link has some suggestions if you're using a tablet or mobile: www.hooktheory.com/blog/5-tips-for-using-hookpad-on-ipad-in-2020/ The team are constantly updating Hookpad so it may be something they develop in the future!

i'm wondering if you know about this 🤔 i came across theorytab on a song's intro in D lydian. the starting chord was D major and then shifts into F# major, but that chord has a "(bor)" under the roman numeral. i'm just wondering if you know what that means. edit : the song is called under the bridge by red hot chili peppers. it has an intro section consisting of that F# major (bor) chord. i'm wondering what that means .
@WriteASong2 жыл бұрын
I think it means a borrowed chord. F# major is not in the key of D lydian . The iii chord in D lydian is F # minor so they have just turned that into a major chord, but strictly speaking it is borrowed from the d# minor key. I hope that helps!

@@WriteASong ahh "borrowed" as in bor. thank you !! i might check that out on hookpad later ☺️

which is better for a noob to write songs, this or Dubler 2, Dubler 2 lets you just use your voice to write he melody and it converts to midi.
@WriteASong Жыл бұрын
I've never used Dubler 2 so can't comment on that. Hookpad is designed to help you understand the theory in an easy way which is why I use it in video examples.

how do I do a key change in the middle of a song? Hookpad is not working to make this happen. :-(
@WriteASong Жыл бұрын
If you click on the measure bar where you want to change key then a list of things you can do appears. To the right of this is a box that says "Change key". Click this and you can input the details of your key change. The measure bar is the top bar, above the loop bar. It has numbers in it. I hope that helps.

You can tell a tutorial is high quality when the first thing they go over is how to swap to dark mode.
