Well done! You'd be amazed at how closely the GPS functions the same in the water, as it does in the air. (Except in the air, we could proceed direct to a waypoint not worrying about what was between us and that waypoint.) Thank you again for another informative video.

Thank you, I have always wanted to have a center console boat and fish like you two do - my bucket list is to fish in the waters in the keys for a few days - maybe when COVID is a little less of a threat - as a former teacher and coach, I am amazed how well you teach and can share with great enthusiasm. Maybe I can get down there and fish with one of your suggested charter friends.

great class, thanks! You should show the "route to" feature, it's been a life changing feature for me moving from an old chart plotter to a new MFD, it's like my Waze for the water.

@@JCASTELLUCCIOJR they normally introduce each other, like 'my twin Amanda is behind the camera', they both normally talk during a video and I thought the camera was mounted, it was very steady. If it was handheld then props to those steady hands.

I think if you hit navigate to it routes you around the land and known hazards and keeps you in the deepest water areas (according to GPS info)

Any particular reason why the Garmin preference ? Is it just what was on the boat or did you select that MFD specifically ? Cheers Ladies

I've been doing a lot of research on gps devices recently so I thought I would share. It really depends on what boat you are using and where you go. For them garmin in good because it has pretty good channel markings and off shore maps. For me I recently bought a garmin and now regretting it. I have a small skiff that runs in around 6 inches of water so most of the time it shows I'm running on land. Simrad and lowrance however allow other companies chips to be put into their gps's unlike garmin. There is a company in Florida that makes high definition photographs that will show the small unmarked cuts to run in through the flats and rocks on the bottom depending on the clarity of the water.
@TheArchangel384013 жыл бұрын
@@brycebass5563 There's another company, that most likely overlook, (especially when boating...) that offer a close look at your surroundings? Google Maps? And maybe one day in this IOT the gps manufacturer's will allow integration between? But.... most folks today own a smart phone and can get a, either map or satellite, view of where you are. I'll open my present position, enter a waypoint way beyond my destination, and google hangs in an shows me all my surroundings? Tracking is astonishing close.... It's something simple that many don't think to look at?
