In secondary beams creation moment release at ends of secondary beams should also be shown. I was watching this because i have released Moments Mx My Mz at ends of secondary beams of a multi storey building. But after i run that for analysis it gives too many warnings at those points that release of moments have caused After making those ends of Secondary Beams Rigid instead of released i found that those warnings disappear but that is not good modelling. Should we care about removing those warnings
@antoniosingh97584 жыл бұрын
Sir I followed this tutorial, however after run analysis, there were many errors saying that the structure is disjointed and there were many Unstable warnings. I tried adding member end releases to connect the secondary beams to primary beams and the problem didnt show up in output file. However, now none of my loads (dead load and live load) are showing up over any of the beams where there are member end releases. What should I do ?
@CivilBlackBox4 жыл бұрын
Firstly, you don't need to release moments. That is not how RCC works, assuming that you are working with an RCC frame. Secondly, I would suggest creating a new file and starting all over again. I hope the errors would go away. If they don't you can share the STAAD file on the FB group and I will take a look at it.

sir if a float column is taken from beam end shall that end be hinged for parent & support beam?
@CivilBlackBox4 жыл бұрын
I will ask you a question to answer you. How would you provide a hinge in RCC structure? If the answer is you can't, then I you probably have the answer to your question as well. When it comes to RCC structures, a hinged joint (or moment release at a joint) is not feasible from the practical point of view. The story is different in steel structures of course. So the take away is simply this. Whatever you can create on site during execution of work is the same thing that you should be considering while modeling. Hope that helps.
@mahendraaandkaanchanpatil14894 жыл бұрын
Sir in the design pile foundations are considered to carry zero moments We create hinge inside the cap by criss cross of pile bars and firmly arresting finally in to the cap mesh Similarly any secondary beam is transmitting end shear force to main beam as a simply supported behaviour is most likely occurring Please comment on my statements as what you are saying is although reality may involve indeterminacy and complex extensive calculations leading to very high reinforcement

@ahmedferdous24334 жыл бұрын
Sir usually we release the member at a secondary beam connection. Can u pls explain why?
@CivilBlackBox4 жыл бұрын
That is a flawed practice. Releasing moments means there is a pinned joint which is usually not the case in RCC beam to beam connection. You should never release moments in secondary beams if you wish to simulate the true behaviour of structure for analysis.
@sudarshannikam52434 жыл бұрын
Sir is it necessary to merge beam to primary after inserting secondary beam before analysis ? Because after inserting node in primary beam it is divided into some pieces or numbers of beams.And they are gotten different beam no. What will be the correct method ? Either merged primary beam or leave it as splited beam before analyzing.
@CivilBlackBox4 жыл бұрын
Split of a beam does not change the analysis. The only thing that changes is that you will have to look at the parts individually to find the reinforcement etc. As far as the analysis and mechanics is concerned, an additional node does nothing. Hope this helps.

sir, can you please tell me if there's any tutorial video or suggest me a book to understand on when to provide secondary beams, purpose of s.beams and bar bending schedule of s.beams and loads and forces acting on the intersection of beams where there is no support? I've seen they have provided in case of long spacing of columns and in garages but i dont clearly get to know the load distributions on it and arrangement of reinforcements. thank you.

In staad modelling of RCC structures the beams and columns are provided from centre to centre Everything is c to center Wen beams are joined centre to center at corners there is no concrete at the corners because the beam is center to center This is also a reason for many errors to come To overcome this someone sugessts that v take a offset and extend that beam from center to the edge of th column What is your opinion to this Perhaps you wil adress this in one of your videos Besides i suggest that you make a comprehensive video about removing ERRORS from STAAD output and why they come in the first place Th floor plan beam slab layout of the of th first floor shud be checked for by using the various checks in the Tools menu That reduces much of th errors and warnings

The problem I am facing is when I create a beam it divides the primary beam in number of sections and it is problematic during load distribution
@CivilBlackBox2 жыл бұрын
How so? You will just have to apply the loads on all the primary beam components which have been divided. Can you please share the issue that you face?

Sir what about plate? Will there be one plate connecting all four sides of primary beam or small plates inside secondary beams? Thank you
@CivilBlackBox6 жыл бұрын
There has to be smaller plates inside the secondary beam. However, you can achieve the same effect by creating a larger plate and then using Mesh function.

@CivilBlackBox4 жыл бұрын
You should not release moments in Secondary Beams. This is a wrong practice which I see a lot of people doing. In RCC you cannot easily create a Pin Joint. And moment release is basically a way of telling STAAD that the joint is pinned.
