This is a neat way of doing this. But to me, it still still sounds a bit processed. Is there a way to make it sound a bit more lifelike?

Well maybe a little bit. over a piano stripped down like that it will sound more processed. If you use this trick in a full production mix and blend it well, it doesn’t sound processed.

Not sure what else you could try except the obvious of recording the harmonies. This is the best way I have found to create harmonies. Much better than harmony generating plug ins
