If you mix has too much sheen can you reduce them or is this plugin only additive?
@PerfectVocalsAcademy3 күн бұрын
This plugin is more for additive. Waves c4 or waves F6 are great to reduce the sheen

The main part to listen for is that one word in the singer’s voice that jumps out a bit, the la2a smooths it out “gluing it” to the mix. La2a should be set up as a 2nd compressor just to reduce certain parts that poke out after the 1st compressor
@mongobeni499217 күн бұрын
Waves CLA 2A and CLA 3A are Waves' best plugins, hard to find something equivalent for vocals. I've test a lot of LA 2A plugins (except UAD), and Waves sounds the best on vocals
@PerfectVocalsAcademy17 күн бұрын
Totally agree! I like the CLA 2A a bit better than UA version

My interface has a compressor should i still run the compressor and then use silk? thanks
@PerfectVocalsAcademy26 күн бұрын
Yes, silk works as a resonance suppressor. It will smooth out problematic frequencies. The built in compressor on silk …you can keep switched off or add a bit more compression with it to push it further if need be

Correcting the formant is important in vocals that have been transposed, especially when the pitch is lowered, even by one semitone.

Do you mean the clicks? That sounds like your ASIO driver is failing or not enough CPU to calculate the processing. Auto-Tune Pro is not doing it on my PC and many other PCs.

Do I use soothe 2 before C4 for de muddy debass
@PerfectVocalsAcademyАй бұрын
Before or after will work but generally I use waves c4 first because it gets the low mids locked in way more, you may not even need soothe to help with controlling the mud

Do you add CLA2A to mix bus or master to glue mix ??
@PerfectVocalsAcademyАй бұрын
The CLA2A is added directly to the vocal as a second compressor. Usually a compressor like the CLA 76 is first to knock down the peaks…then the 2A makes the vocal more smooth and has a glue type of effect that makes it sit in the mix better
@igotudaveАй бұрын
I don’t get what you’re doing. Perhaps explaining what mud is and what you hear as you do it. Why a low pass on a vocal, Shouldn’t it be a high pass filter?
@PerfectVocalsAcademyАй бұрын
Mud is low mids. Low mids is the area of 200 to 500hz. This area can either make a vocal sound muffled or make it sound warm and full. That depends on the vocal recording. Vocals can benefit from both a high pass and a low pass. Low pass can help get rid of extreme highs that is causing unnecessary hiss in a vocal

My mixing engineer didn’t want to fix some timing issues in the mix on some vocals. It wasn’t off time before but we imported stems, and things became slightly off time. What are your thoughts?
@PerfectVocalsAcademy2 ай бұрын
It’s possible that some of the plugins he used caused latency making the stems out of sync. If that’s the case you can nudge the whole vocal track and align it. If it’s not consistently off by the same amount, it’s possible there was a glitch when he exported the stems and it would need to be done again. Make sure you’re using the same sample rate as the mixing engineer as well
@DbiPro2 ай бұрын
It changes the relationship between the vocal and how the other high timbre instruments are allowed to mix into the vocal so it sounds like they’re playing together vs just in sync

No disrespect bro but why you make a video with those stupid plugins which 98 percent of people don’t own at least you could have used waves
@PerfectVocalsAcademy2 ай бұрын
Well, honestly because mixing is an art…I try to venture out and not stay stagnant by always using the same waves plug-ins. trying different plugins will yield different results in your mixes. It makes mixing exciting for me. An alternative here is to take the principle of what I’m saying in the video and apply it to your own plugins you have . 👏🏻

How much compression roughly?
@PerfectVocalsAcademy3 ай бұрын
Download the free trial for JST Gain Reduction Deluxe and try it out. I don’t do a certain amount, I just squash it pretty heavy and blend in the mix. If I could guess probably 10 to 15db of reduction.

What’s the cpu on this compared to soothe2?
@PerfectVocalsAcademy3 ай бұрын
Seems to be a little more cpu hungry. Soothe adds about 2 or 3 percent on Protools system usage meter…this plugin adds 3 or 4 percent. But that probably depends on if you are using over sampling on soothe. Then it’s probably about the same
