Excellent! I've been using Affinity for a couple of years now, and never noticed the Halftone filter. Thanks for a great tutorial! Your channel was recommended in a Reddit thread.

Making the pixels follow the contour of her face looks very nice. Good idea!

Amazing tutorial, I would have never thought to use any effects on top of the halftone but it really makes sense why after seeing this. Another gem. Love to Ezra as well.

Great tutorial, the finished image, after the liquify, almost looks like the portraits used on paper money.

Great Tutorial !!! Thankyou for your knowledge. I did this and used one of my own photos of my ugly face..ahah.. I decided to try the DISPLACE filter instead of the Warp tool you showed. If anyone want to try this, just select your halftone layer and select live filters, then Displace. Once the box appears click on LOAD MAP FROM LAYERS BENEATH and tweak the slider to your desired effect. It really does merge and warp to your contours..

whats the difference between the level and output level sliders? how are they affecting the picture differently?
@AffinityRevolutionАй бұрын
The black level makes your shadows darker, while the output black level makes your shadows brighter. And the white level makes your highlights brighter, while the output white level makes your highlights darker.

A wonderful job, Ally, and so simple for us to copy the effect. (Of course, you've done all the hard work before you started the video!) Years ago (in v1) I tried to reproduce a hand-engraved wood block effect, such as we see in 19th century magazine illustration before half-tone printing came along. This approximates very closely; but is it possible to get a square dot effect?
@AffinityRevolutionАй бұрын
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. 😊 But as for a square dot effect, I don't know how to do that... sorry!
