My mother had her parties planned so that at least 15 minutes before the first guest arrived, she could sit down in her fancy outfit and make up and have a drink and a cigarette. That was important, to have a few minutes to destress and calmly plan what would be happening. My parents "soirees" were very much enjoyed by all their friends.

You zero straight into to the top notch ! The cocktail was delightful and easy. The appetizer was the goat cheese soufflé elegant and easy and delicious. The salmon was easesy peasey and delicious. And the piece de resistance the flower less chocolate cake!! I am replicating this dinner for my husband’s birthday!! Now the table setting Exquisite. From how to care for the Linens. To the types of plates glasses you did not leave any detail to chance. The arrangement of flowers. The color of the flowers and type. Was beautiful. And the tip on 2 a year to mail a beautiful invitation. As well as the email invitation . You like always are so thoughtful and cover all bases. Thank you. I love that you use Harrod’s green as your background color. This is not a question but rather a statement on the current state of our society. I have always loved to entertain via dinner parties with beautifully set and prepared tables. Years ago, guests were not intimidated by beautiful tables but rather complimented by the fact that such lengths were taken to please. Today, I find myself entertaining far less. When I do a dinner party for a special occasion, and I set a beautiful table, guests feel intimidated/ uncomfortable as though it’s strange to even eat at a dining room table. I still believe it’s better to elevate others to a standard vs stooping to norms. It’s unfortunate that society has changed so. I applaud you for your good taste and sense of style. Bravo Nicolas. Love your videos.

I'm so pleased to have discovered your channel. My husband and I love to have friends for dinner and subscribe exactly to your philosophy of entertaining. Elegant but simple, making guests feel warm and welcome without being overly fussy -- just fussy enough. Your home is so lovely and timeless and reminds us of ours in San Diego. While all our friends decorate modern, modern, modern, their homes look interchangeable and nearly identical. Beautiful books, bowls, flowers, vases, clocks, and art, not necessarily expensive but always in good taste, make a home feel inviting and cozy. It's so nice to see younger people appreciate this style of living for so many reasons. Your videos are also enjoyably calm, almost ASMR, such a nice counterpart to our joyfully Jewish neuroticism. I'll occasionally listen to them with my eyes closed to lull myself into relaxation. Looking forward to watching the rest of the videos soon. Be well.

Perfectly exquisite. Bliss. I believe that finding all the correct table dressing is the most difficult thing to do. Table clothes are so much fun to choose and are then so directive that setting the tableware choices follows nicely, but the extra touches, like floral or other settings are the most difficult I find. Candles are my special bane. I labour to find perfectly cylindrical candles in just so, pastel colours and of a good height, of around 12 to 16 inches. This continues to vex me. So many tapering candles are on sale and scented too! Ug. Oh why oh why taper and why such odd scents ? The White House candles are just so right. You have set such a perfect table in this mini film, it is a delight. So well done. Your menu is lovely too. I do hope it all went well. Just adore your inspirational postings. Thank You. ML

Mr. Fairford: Thank you very much for this. You have excellent taste and everything is so elegant but not "fussy". I am happy you like to entertain. I used to entertain in the 1970s but no one ever reciprocated and it was getting to be expensive even then--so I stopped it. Good show--very well done.

Me, too. Is Sophie allowed on the furniture? Does she sleep in the bed with you? I have my Desi. Hes a 14 year old toy poodle, and my best friend! I consider him family, and I allow him to do all of these things. Love Sophie!💖

@@priscillasmith9259 Your Desi sounds like a joy. You both are so lucky to have each other. You posed good questions to Nicolas about Sophie and perhaps he’ll address in some videos I’ve not gotten too yet. Greetings from Chicago.

Question: Do you have an estimated launch date for your online store--and, relatedly, will it have the napkins you sold in December with the topiary motif? (Can't wait to buy a set of your napkins.)

I really love your content. This is so pretty, so chic, yet so simple and easy. I’m a big fan of dinner parties, and that’s my type of cocktail, by the way: just a little bit sweet, simple and very bubbly. This video just got me in the mood of hosting and entertaining a few friends -I’m sending the invites right now. Thank you, Nicholas.
