hm, Robert says the 2nd OSC modulates the first etc. but all I hear is layered 1st OSC & 2nd OSC with their respective volume envelopes, like operator just mixes 4 OSCs...

That's because he changes the mode so that only one modulates the next, instead of a chain like the default setting
