How to create tuned 808 basslines with the Roland TR-8S

Roland's latest update for its TR-8S and TR-6S drum machines has added a chromatic bass mode making it easy to create tuned 808 kick basslines. In this video we explain how to program an 808 bass part and share some tips for blending it with a kick sound.

Hey thank you the helpful tips. I believe you can actually sidechain the bass though, you set the bass inst to one of the assignable outs and route it to the external in and use the sidechain for the kick drum inst.

I can confirm you can but i don’t as the sidechain isn’t very good so I route both the kick and bass out separately to Ableton and use Kickstart or Shaper
