How to Create USB Flash Thumb Drive from an ISO Image File Windows 11

Here are the steps I will cover in this video:
1. Getting a copy of the Windows 11 .iso file directly from Microsoft.
2. Using RUFUS application to create a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 11 on it.
NOTE: Your system firmware (BIOS) MUST be set to UEFI boot mode in order to boot from this USB. Windows 11 does NOT support legacy BIOS boot mode at all. Love your videos but I really would like to see an update to this video now that Windows 11 is mainstream as @m.109 requested above. I am a relative novice but your detailed instructions make these important precautions doable. Thanks. By the way, I love Windows 11 and wonder why there is reluctance to upgrade by so many. It was so easy using Windows Update.

This video i understand but It would be nice if you could explain how to use it to put the system image you created. or do you have a video of this already? thanks. I am confused as to why you must put the windows 11 iso onto the usb if you just want to put back your system image.

Thank you for watching. The reason to convert an ISO to a bootable USB to restore a system image is that you use the bootable USB to create the preboot environment that can then read the existing system image you previously created through the backup and restore tool, which allows creation of system image backups. An installation DVD will also accomplish this. So, the process is: 1. create the system image backup of your current running system. 2 then create the bootable USB so you have a pre boot environment to use the system image you created. 3. Then boot from that bootable USB, go to restore options (I think it's under advanced repair), select your previously created system image to restore, and then restore it. The bootable USB is just a way to get the previously created image, back onto the system drive. Feel free to comment back if you run into any issues, and put as much detail in as possible. I do have videos that cover all of this and I can put the links in there for the part that is getting tricky for you.

Doesn't come close to working at all! Steps left out on 2 Videos! Please Fix! I have 2 HP EliteDesk Windows 11 Pro Computers! 1 computer is nice with 2019 Office and several other programs installed! I put 10 Pro on second computer and wanted to go back to 11 and put all the added programs on thru ISO Image from working 11 computer! Used Win 7 Tools and made ISO to L Drive. (L is internal secondary drive both computers 1 TB). Also did File backup to K Drive 1 TB). Made 64GB ScanDisk Stick into Rufus Setup and was formated NTFS. Seemed to create ok! You never told us what files were installed to Rufus Stick! Copied ISO Image from working 11 computer onto Another USB Stick 1.9 TB. Moved to win 10 computer on L Drive! Win 7 Restore program doesn't see L backup and says never setup. What do I do with Rufus in win 10 Computer as it says Rufus Stick has to be Formatted! Sees nothing on Rufus Stick in second computer! But it says it completed on win 11 Machine! Looks like the Only way to get 11 back on is to Buy win 11 and product key on DVD from eBay. Bought Office 2019, 2 Product Keys for 5 setups each key to be Download off Web. And have 4 installs on 4 other computers. Now Microsoft says key is Pirated so no more office. This Process with Rufus is very vague for not ever doing this before and doesn't work or isn't explained per each step deep enough to do the job! BOO! BOO! Need Help! [e-mail] If you care! Sorry for this review, as maybe someone has has luck! Bye!

Hi, it sounds like what you're doing here is system migration, which is much more involved than just creating a Windows 11 bootable USB disk from an ISO file, which is what this video covers. And it sounds like you created a system image of a secondary drive and thought that would include your operating system, and all of your license keys. But those all exist on the system drive (commonly known as the C: drive on windows systems), not any secondary drive, so you imaged/restored the wrong drive if you that's what you were trying to do. Also, system images get more in depth when you go from one type of hardware to another (one computer to another). Some of the drivers may or may not work with different hardware than was originally in use, and all disks/partitions need to be well understood to migrate system images from one set of hardware to another successfully. If you want to learn how to migrate from one system to another (which is what you're describing by talking about installing a factory operating system, and migrating data and software license keys from one computer to another), I've done 2 in depth videos on that, and the link to the Windows 11 one is below. The video is only 35 minutes, but plan on about 5 hours if you want to do it right. There is no quick fix for a comprehensive system migration, but it's a very good skillset to have for anyone who uses computers regularly, and plans to continue doing so. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWaWq32Ce9mjjsk

Although this method still works fine, you are correct. The easiest way to do it now is with the windows media creation tool. I am going to do an updated version soon.
