I wanna be a writer. Mostly comics, but Id love to do screenplays and some novels. And I have one story/comic run in particular that I've been planning out and fantasizing about for 7 years now, and I'm still adding details in my mind and new stories even today. It's my own superhero universe. Think similar to invincible, but kinda completely different in a few ways hahah. And I swear on everything on this world and on whatever god people worship that I will make it and it will become a real thing. I don't care if every studio turns it down and I don't care if I have to self publish and draw it all by myself, It will get done. If I create anything in my career it'll be this book. Thank you for this video, every piece of advice on comics and the industry as a whole is much appreciated. I've been a fan of yours for almost a year now, keep up the great content. PS sorry for grammar mistakes I'm writing this on my phone. XD

Thanks for making this video, guys. Tons of great nuggets in here for novices like myself. I actually listened to this in the background while drawing character references for one of the comics I've been sitting on for the past 5 years! Finally mustering up the confidence to move forward and just DO IT. No time like the present, right? Lol.

there's alot of great stuff here. I'm a songwriter who had thought of writing a comic and this video was extremely enlightening. one of the truest things you guys said was towards the end. you really do have to be willing to write something bad so that you can grow as an artist. I tell people all the time, when they want to write songs or poetry, your first ten things will make you cringe. if you can deal with that, you have hope.

Hey guys. I'm so glad you are doing this as an els world exchange. I'm an aspiring artist and in the future hope to become an artist for DC (or marvel by would prefer DC). Art is where my main love is but I also love telling stories. I am taking creative writing in school and drawing and painting in school and have noticed a lot of improvements. For Christmas my mom got me private lessons with Carl Potts and a "create your own comic" set as a gag gift. I can't wait to actually make my own comic even though it's gonna be kind of not real but it will be fun. Love both of your work!

first off I would love to read anything written by either of you two. I'm multi-tasking while watching this video I'm not sure if you said it but where would I find y'all's comics? In school I was active in sports so was often put in the jock box since everything in life has to be divided, grouped & organized lol but I read comic books constantly & loved talking nerd talk with the self proclaimed school nerds & impressed them with my DC knowledge lol anyway now in life my friends aren't comic book enthusiasts so comic pop & weekly pull is my nerd talk & I live vicariously through yall(yes I'm southern, Jax fla) & just wanna say thank u sal & tiff. I particularly love you two's discussions. I find them very insightful and enjoyable. I don't fancy myself a writer yet. I have ideas and jot down ideas for stories and the characters whenever inspiration strikes LOL I stopped going to Community College to help out my mother who was sick blah blah blah not trying to give you my life story so I try to do a lot of self learning through watching videos when things of that nature. I have a few story's but I'm still trying to figure out which platform is best whether a comic, novel etc. But this is super long so thanks for what u do

I agree, you don't make money off of just writing comics, I always thought the money maker was doing the Spawn route by owning your own stuff and selling it yourself. He got popular off of his earlier work then branched out to do his own thing. He may not be the best writer but I would assume besides the random lawsuits he probably has made a good hunk of change compared to other well known writers, but I maybe wrong just my 2 cents. Great video btw love these!!!

I have a powerful, vivid imagination that never stops, and I always wanted to be a comic artist and writer, following in the footsteps of my hero Geoff Senior. Not achieving even a fraction of that, nothing, due to social anxiety and lack of confidence, has destroyed me. I am not sure I can carry on living. The heartbreak hurts me every day. Just typing this is making me cry. I feel so depressed and hopeless.

I've rewritten my first issue over 5 times now. My finished product doesn't even match what I set out to write, but its better than when I started. And because I changed my first issue, I had to change my second issue. Now I have to follow those with my third. And now I'm stuck.
@TheTrollingNiko8 жыл бұрын
Get a white board. Like a big one, so you can change and erase stuff easily, not a notebook. Plan out at least the 3 first arcs by stories. Then step by step decide what story element will go in each issue. Do this until you're happy. Don't immediatly start scripting the first issue as soon as you finish planning. Give yourself at least a week before you start writing. In those days it's inevitable that you'll change something on the board. Do this until the first arc is ready. See if you are comfortable with the next arc. Repeat the process. Hope this helps
