I have a bad habit of paraphrasing instead analysing. Any tips to help me discern paraphrasing and analysing?
@CarolMcNally4 жыл бұрын
Paraphrasing is putting the text in your own words, but not adding your own thought and opinions about what the text says. Analysing involves some paraphrasing or summarizing, but when you analyze you add your own thoughts and opinions about what the text says. Thanks for this question. It is a great idea for a video. Check back with my channel later this fall when I start uploading new videos again!

Thank you@@CarolMcNally ! Well I would love to see how you can easily tell what era the writers are writing from, that’s hard for me to decipher without cheating and googling. I would also love to see just examples from poems that you help interpret step by step, similar to what you did with the black cat. :)
@CarolMcNally3 жыл бұрын
@@elijaharias2012 I will think about how to teach determining the era...hmmmm. And I will definitely put together a lesson soon on interpreting a poem! Thanks for the input!

Ma'am I have trouble approaching a novel for analysis. Should I take notes as I read it or should I read it twice? Should I analyse some parts of it or the whole which seems daunting?
@CarolMcNally3 жыл бұрын
Your comment brings up several great approaches. Yes, take notes, but be deliberate about what you record. Yes, read it multiple times. Yes, analyze parts working toward an analysis of the whole. May I ask what novel you are attempting to analyze?

@@CarolMcNally Thank you for your reply. My novel is Pride and Prejudice. It is my first and I feel lost about the methods to approach it, though I am thoroughly enjoying reading it.
