Very clear instructions at a comfortable pace. I made the dress and now this matching hat. Your pattern is appreciated.

I followed the pattern exactly, with the right stitch count and yarn and needle size, but the back part (rounds 1-8) ended up totally flat and quite large. After 3 rounds making shells, the hat looked big enough for a 6-month old. Not sure where I went wrong. The pattern is very easy to follow, just not the size I was hoping for.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the size of your hat. It can be frustrating when the outcome doesn't match expectations. Here are a few things to consider: Tension: Tension can significantly impact the size of your project. If your stitches are too loose, it can result in a larger finished item. Conversely, tight stitches can make it smaller. Pay attention to your tension as you crochet, and you may want to adjust it if needed. Yarn and Hook Size: Even if you followed the recommended yarn weight and hook size, variations among yarn brands and individual crocheters can still affect the final size. If the hat is turning out larger than expected, you might consider trying a slightly smaller hook size or switching to a yarn with a different texture. Gauge Swatch: Before starting the main project, it's always a good idea to make a gauge swatch. This will help you ensure that your stitches match the specified gauge in the pattern. If your gauge differs, it can lead to size discrepancies. Adjustment: If you are comfortable doing so, you can try adjusting the pattern by either using a smaller hook size, reducing the number of stitches, or skipping some rounds. Keep in mind that altering the pattern may require some trial and error.

Thanks for the feedback! It does seem that my hat is looser.
