Personally I think this design with the ruffled brim is best for little girls, but maybe you could decide to make the brim straight, then it would be great for boys aswell. Best of luck with your project😊

How come as my circle gets bigger it curls a little bit. ?

It is difficult to say exactly what this is due to. But this problem occurs most often if you have too many stitches in the last rounds. Or if you don't keep the same tension in the last rounds as in the first rounds of the hat. But don't worry about struggling a bit with your first attempts when you are a newbie. Try possibly to watch the video again and give it another try or two. Practice makes perfect😊❤
